I was looking at a Foxfire book and it told of how people used to take their ducks and pluck a good number of their feathers which they then used for bedding and such. They said it didn't hurt the duck and maybe did it close to molting time. Does anyone do this any more for any reason? As... -
Playground mats for enclosure?
I am wondering if those square, somewhat thick rubber-like (maybe recycled materials?) mats often used for playgrounds or around home swing sets would work in my duck enclosure. Easy clean up and would reduce the mud/muck but I don't know if they are textured enough to not be too slick when wet... -
Heat and collecting eggs to eat
I am finally able to collect some of the guinea eggs for eating. I marked all the eggs when I found the nest and go back each night and collect the unmarked (fresh) ones.
