From a pen of birds that are somewhat of a mystery to me background wise (ok, a complete mystery).
In the pen is a simply gorgeous black roo who ended up having a lot of silver in his hackles, I was going to pet him out, but instead I put him in a pen with 2 black girls and 2 silver partridge...
I will try to get a recent picture and add it, right now I only have this older pic from last year when they were still juvies just shedding out their baby down.
Fertility is tested and is superb and at current laying rates I can make up an order of 12 plus generous extras every 2 days.
No...
I have 4 in the house that are 7-8 weeks old, not under lights, at 'room temperature' which is about 60 at night and 70 during the day, and 11 fully grown in the coop I'd like to put them in.
I could put them in the bathroom for some transition time as I can keep it about 50-55 in there with...
Last night Relyt, our very favorite girl (pictured in my av on a much better day), was missing at bedtime. We searched and searched including looking in the duck house (IDK how we missed her) but it seems she accidentally got locked in the duck house instead of her coop.
The ducks are fine...
Beautiful boy, but he has 2 crooked toes from a humidity problem in the incubator, I tried to tape them in the brooder when he was little, but he wouldn't keep the tapes on!
Happily free ranges and gets along with everyone.
Pics on request.
I'll send a package of chicken treats to the first person who guesses the breeds of both parents of this girl correctly!
She is the offspring of 2 purebreds...to make it more tricky I'd like you to identify the breed of the mother and the breed of the father correctly, so I won't say anything...
Ok, some seem obvious, others not so much, some were more camera shy than others. Hopefully I can figure out how to get all 8 in one post..
So, what do you think?
It just sticks straight down, slightly to the side, definitely not spraddled and definitely new, I would have noticed this before.
The foot is flat (normal looking), just the leg straight like a rod from hip to ankle.
I hope cross posting is ok, I posted in the chick thread, but now I'm thinking here might be more appropriate, could you guys please check it out and tell me what you think?

This little Icelandic is only a few hours old, but it keeps getting its left leg over the wing. I keep correcting it, but it gets right back there.
Problem or no?
Thanks
I have 3 older TX6s available, manual turn. All show cosmetic signs of age, but all work great and will hatch like a charm, far better than a styrofoam with fan for the same price. :)
No cracks in the domes etc, just old looking and without the liquid in glass thermometers. One is missing the...

He was in the shed with one of his girls, I tried to gently shoo him out, but he ran behind the tack box, so I picked him up and took him through to coop door, as I entered the coop he wiggled and I dropped him, from waist height onto soft bedding, but he hit the ground and immediately was on...
These two cuties hatched within 5 minutes of each other today from my first ever batch of home incubated eggs.
They came out so fast!
I saw a pipped hole, within 30 seconds a large horizontal crack, then the first one flung it's head and popped off the top of the egg followed immediately by a...
Something is wrong with my lovely little Mille OEGB.
She is usually one of the first to settle into the coop each night, I just went out to close up the coop, and she was outside all by herself, pecking away at the ground with her wings drooping and her tail twisted to the side.
When she walks...
One of my Speckled Sussex girls is standing off in the corner of the run by herself, she didn't come over for cooked rice and she's bobbing her head...it looks kind of like dry heaving.
Any ideas?
HELP!
My two new hens came with bald spots on their backs.
I introdued them to my flock this week and the bald spots got a little bigger.
Today I saw my BAndie hen pecking on the back of one of the new girls, in the bald spot.
None of my flock have done this to each other until now.
Can I stop it...
