How to manage a staggered hatch
After letting our Royal Palm hen sit on her eggs she crushed 2 hatchlings to death. :( We gathered the rest of the eggs and candled them. Some were showing obvious life while others looked to be "possibles". I just candled them all again and the "possibles" are now "definites". Here's... -
Quiet Silkie chicks
My chicks are 2 days old. This is my first hatch so I'm learning as I go but, they seem very quiet. They are under a red heat lamp and was recently informed that red is soothing. Otherwise, they seem healthy. Eating and drinking. I don't mind one bit that they are quiet but, is this normal?- skeyes

First hatch - heat lamp or light bulb?
I just had my first incubated hatch. 5 out of 8. They are now in brooder box under a heat lamp. If I need to cut back on the temp by 5 degrees each week I'm not sure how to accomplish that. Should I switch to a regular light bulb?- skeyes
