    Fabulous app

I love this app. Big kudos to the designers and developers behind it. Layout is intuitive and notifications are spot on. Navigation is smooth and widgets like the thumbs up actually work and are super handy. I would pay for an ad free version, say $3.99 or so. Is an ad free version in the works?

We have our first hatchlings - dumb newbie question

One of our hens tucked herself away about 3 weeks ago in one of our horse stalls. She hatched 2 eggs finally today. These are our first hatchling chicks. I read through 'storey's guide to raising chickens' but it mainly talks about incubators so I have a dumb question. We've always bought our...

Please ID this - I can't tell if it's mold or eggs of some kind or what

With all the recent rain, we've had a plethora of interesting problems. 2 days ago my DH killed a rattlesnake in the driveway and a bullsnake in our coop. I noticed these weird white spots growing at the base of our coop by the chicken feeder. Can someone ID these? I don't know if I should be...

Donkey question - I think she has a hernia

Hello, I'm trying to help a jenny donkey that was left behind when our neighbors left. They essentially abandoned her. They gave me a bag of feed and made sure she had water on an automatic waterer, which is working. I am in the process of finding her a loving forever home. (I got their...

Can I put cedar shavings where they lay eggs

Dumb newbie question... TSC told me I need to put pine shavings, but we have loads of cedar shavings... is there a reason I can't put cedar shavings down where the hens lay eggs? Thank you for your patience w/my dumb questions!

    Our chicken coop

Hello here is the coop hubby built in just 2 weeks. I think he did excellent. The neighbors gave us their chickens when they moved and we didn't have anywhere for them so this is what he came up with. It is working out great.... the chickens love it. They settled in quickly. They roost on the...

What breed of chickens are these

Hello I am very new to chickens. I think the prettiest one is a buff orp but not sure. Because I had so many pictures I uploaded them to flickr and will just post the url here. I hope that is ok. Chicken1 "Titan" - the oldest, I am not sure if she is laying eggs or not...

3 roosters - 2 are buddies and 1 is an outcast - why?

Hope this is posted in the right place. Still learning my way around. Another dumb newbie chicken question. We have 4 roosters total. 1 is in the coop with the hens. He may get kicked out depending on the answer to the question I just posted. The 3 "outside-the-coop" roosters are each...

Thinking of moving the rooster out of the coop

There is a note "If it is a general post about you and/or your chickens, post it in the social sections" - I think this question is specific. I hope I am posting in the right forum for this question. I am very green at chickens like I said in my intro so please pardon the stupidity of my...

New from the Lone Star State

Hello, I am new to chickens. Our neighbors gave us some when they moved. DH and I have done some research, bought a great book but still there are always some questions. So I joined the forum to be able to ask the experts. We were given 9: 4 roosters, 5 hens. 1 hen is very old and not producing...
