Morning All,
I have 6 hens. Five are standard size and one, Mabel, is a bantam. I know now that having just one little one was a bad idea. She has one friend in an EE, but the other four are mean to her. She has to be constantly wary of her space whether she is free-ranging or in the coop for...
I'm so disappointed. I discovered my Easter Egger on the best this morning (24 weeks old). I was so excited for our first blue/green eggs, only to find she's been the Sweetpea laying the beautiful brownies. Oh, well. Our other EE was taken by a raccoon in the night about a month ago. Still miss her.
So I decided to put a light in the coop because I'm so excited to finally get our first eggs (5 month old hens). I keep the food & water down below in the run to discourage rodents up in the coop where they roost. But now that the light is on, they're milling about with nothing to do! They're...

Hi! My EE is 13 weeks old and was one of four pullets until these tail feathers started growing straight up! Now I'm not so sure. Her saddle feathers don't look pointy, though. No comb, no crowing.[/IMG]
I have three 6-week old pullets (barred rock, and 2 EEs) and a bantam brahma. The banty is frequently off on her own and seems to me like she's left out of the flock. She's super sweet & docile and just always seems to be left behind. I assume she's falling to the bottom of the pecking order...
I'm new to chickens - 5 weeks in! One of my girls, Henrietta, an EE has been acting funny the past few evenings. She's been pushing herself under another hen. She looks like she's trying to dive under! She won't stop until she is completely underneath the 2nd hen, Zebra, who seems nonplussed by...
