    Blacklight vs Red light??

    We have 12 'girls' and would like to give them some warmth in their roost at night, but not fry them with 250 watt heat lamps....     Golden Girl has gone broody???

    I'm pretty sure that my smartest girl has gone broody according to the descriptions of that behavior I've read here. My question is how long does this go on for (we have only girls)? Should I try to break her of this broodiness, or let her work it out of her system?? Thanks!

    egg laying behavior?

    My normally sweet and quiet girls are starting to lay. We have 12 black sex link pullets that are 17 weeks old. Only two of them are laying small eggs right now....but what I was curious about was all of the new strange behavior going on. The one we call the 'golden girl' was in the nesting box...

    OK, i definitely have a few chicks with this! Should I, or can I do something about it, other than grin and bear it? My babies are 3 wks old and are on non med starter (Purina Start & Grow) and water. Their treats are cooked egg, yogurt, some parakeet grit, and occasional spinach leaf well...

    When can I give my chicks treats?

    My Black Sex links were hatched on Feb 4th and already they're so active and curious. I'd like to give them bits of sweet potato, a spinach leaf maybe. What and when can I give them treaties?? Thanks.
