I've been raising Coturnix quail for about 9 months now. I had forgotten about this place, much to my embarrassment. I am located just about 20 miles south of Albany NY and have about 60 quail of several colors. Jumbo Wilds, English whites, Tibetans, and Red Range/Scarlet. Just gearing up for a...

    Quail feed using rendered beef.

I understand quail can eat beef. I render butcher scraps and feed my chickens with it. How can I figure what else I need to feed the quail to balance it out? It ends up being about 25% tallow.

    Blue eggs from Mutts

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I couldn't find anything closer. I have a very strange chicken. She has a face like a hawk, normal body and blue legs. New Rooster

I'm swapping out roosters. How long should I wait to gather eggs to incubate eggs so I know for sure he's the papa?

How to assure eggs WON'T hatch?

If you want to sell eggs for eating and want to make sure that people don't hatch them, what do you do? Is there a certain amount of time in the fridge that will do it? This may sound mean spirited, but I plan on raising rare birds and want to sell the excess to people that want to eat them...

How Long in Transit is Too Long?

I bought some VERY expensive Cream Legbar hatching eggs on line. They will be in transit for a week come Tuesday. Today is Sunday. The post office appears to have lost track of them. How long is too long? Should I ship the 24 hour shipping rest and just get them in the incubator if they do arrive?

Guinea Hen Had to be Euthanized

I'm not sure what happened. Last night as I was getting ready to close my birds up for the night I noticed that one was still outside the fence. I picked her up and put her over the fence and my rooster ( I keep chickens too) mounted her, I'd seen this before and had read about it here. I chased...
