    Hole in the Shell

We have ten hens in a coop and a large fenced run. They have plenty of room, plenty of food/water and crushed oyster shell. They were all purchased as baby chicks (Red Sex Links) this spring and have all been laying for probably three months. I believe that it's just one hen but almost every...

    They're Bantams

That's all I know. The black one is a lace something, no feathers on the legs, tail is shaped in a "V". Came from the Tractor Supply "assorted Bantam bucket. The gray/white one I think is a rooster but don't have a clue as to the breed. No feathers on the legs either. Thanks for your help.

    This doesn't look right

This is my 7 month old Easter Egger. She doesn't seem sick, her poop looks fine, she's eating ok but I don't think this is right. Both sides look this way. I don't believe the other chickens have been pecking her because it's the same on both sides and none of my other 9 hens are showing...

    Grass or Sand

We currently have 10 hens. We have a coop and lock them securely in there at night. In the day, they can go back and forth into the coop but we have a 5' x 15' run for them. My husband built it using pvc pipe and chicken wire. Here it is: It's round and we can't stand up in it. We move...

    A He or a She?

Anyone want to guess on whether this one is a rooster? All my chicks were supposed to be girls but this one has been mean to the other chickens . . very dominating. Not sure if it's a rooster or just a mean hen. It's an Ameraucana and this photo was taken when it was about 12 weeks old. Do...

    Finally Finished Coop

I had begged for almost 10 years for chickens and on March 26 of this year, we brought home 10 baby chicks . . and a Rubbermaid Tote. You know how quickly they outgrew that plastic box. DH then came up with a huge cardboard box from work and the chicks stayed in that (in my basement) til I...
