Just wanted to share..
This is one of my Polish/Silkie Cross chicks at 3 weeks old. I just love her feathers! And it looks like she might develope a crest/tophat? Maybe?
And Peanut, my runt-ling OEGB, who has a seperate thread here telling his tale of raising two button quail. This is...
I have learned, through this board and through trial and error, that when you help a chick hatch, MOST of the time.. there is something wrong with it and it will die.
So I have learned to patiently sit on my hands. I had a little fellow pip, and nothing.. so I helped a teensy tiny bit. Then I...
Both of these birds are from a McMurray Special Assorted Purebred lot. Any guesses on what they might be? Apologize for the bad pictures, my main camera was dead!
Aaaannnnddd...
Thanks!
This is the chronicle of the Itty Bitty Chick city, and the raising of a chick with EVERYTHING wrong.
"Peanut" an OEGB named due to him/her being about the size of a packing peanut, was trapped in the egg..covered in dried membranes, had to be hatched manually, and was born with the worst case...
Hi there.. this chick is about 6 weeks old. I'm thinking its a buttercup, but it could be a golden campine? It's from McMurray. It has green legs. Sorry about the bad pictures.. my camera phone is all I had handy and charged. And does it look like a pullet or roo? The tail feathers have...
I buy hatchery chicks, fancy little purebred assortments and raise them up in the summer camp we run on the farm. Then, when they're 12 to 14 weeks old, I sell them on Craigslist or at through the Co-Op to urban chicken owners in Memphis or the more traditional farmers.. whoever comes along...
This little hen is my favorite.. and her legs are a little scaly looking. She appears to be 100% healthy and happy, but I wanted to check.. is this normal? Is there something wrong with her?
This is my Silkie Roo. I know he's probably not great quality, but to me he's special. He can't help it if he's a little different. What color would he be considered? And his cone.. it looks somewhat odd, is that normal?
This is not the cutest chick in the world. I'm just curious WHAT it is! It came from McMurray in the Special Assorted Package. Any guesses? It appears to have a crest, and it definitely has five toes. Oh! And please forgive how ragged the babies look here.. they had a breakfast of crushed...
Just felt like posting. Talking to someone really. Went into Minor Med a week or so ago for a chest cold, was sent to the big hospital in an ambulance for cardiac arrest. I'm waitng for my ride now, to discharge, with a ton of medicines I'll be on the rest of my life. I'm only 28. I could...
I've been incubating all of my pure Silkies for a short while now, as each egg is very precious to me. I have a broody hen, however, who was determined that she would raise her own clutch. So I took all but one of her eggs, figuring I could sacrifice one chick to the cruel hazards of the...
