Hi all,
I went to put the ducks away in their house for the night, and when I got to the pen I saw a big fat raccoon in their pen eating the duck food. The ducks were about four feet away from the raccoon, all were fine and were just staring at the raccoon and did not seem bothered at all by...
So I have a flock of five drakes and they have all been getting along fine up until a couple days ago. I noticed the two newest members started getting pushy and chasing the other three around occasionaly, but when I let my ducks out of their house this morning one of the old ducks looked like...
I was at my friends house and her female welsh harlequin started flipping out. She started flapping her wings wildly and then she lost control of her limbs but kept on flapping and then she flipped on her back and could not get up. This episode went on for about a minute and it was the 2nd one...
I noticed one of my ducks was limping last night and he was still limping this morning. I looked at the top of his foot and his leg this morning and did not see anything out of the ordinary. I am going to try to get a look at the bottom of his food when I get back home this afternoon. It might...
My family and I are getting a pool put in over the summer and I was wondering if it would be safe for my ducks to swim in it? Will the chlorine hurt them? Is it safe for us? I am just throwing this option out there I know it sounds crazy. Thanks!
I have read that grazing makes up most of geese's diets. When geese graze do they tear up the yard? I am thinking of only getting two. Will two do a lot of damage?
I am looking into getting a pair of geese to help keep hawks away from my flock of drakes. I was thinking of getting a pair, but will my drakes fight over the female goose?
I have three drakes, two cayugas and one magpie. The magpie is new so he is in a smaller pen inside the larger one. This has been going on for over two weeks, but when I let them in the same pen the ducks keep pulling out the magpie's feathers and climbing on top of him. I understand they are...
So I recently had a hawk kill one of my ducks when they were free ranging and I was in the house. The hawk attacked in the ten minute time frame from where I left the room in my house that looks out over the yard so I could see the ducks. Now I am keeping my remaining ducks in their pen...
I was not sure where to post this question, but how would I go about shipping two almost 8 week old ducks? The weather is supposed to stay in the 40s or 50s this week so I would like to ship them this week while the weather is warm. I have never shipped live animals, so will the ducks stay safe...
I have a 7 week old crested mallard who is suffering from wry neck. I have read many ways to treat this, so I just want it all in one place and all suggestions are welcome :)
Thanks!
These pair of mallards were two of six ducks I recieved from Ideal Poultry but sadly only them and a male magpie survived the shipping. The mallards went to my aunts house, but the little female (she is crested) developed wry neck. She is not responding well to the treatement my aunt has been...
I am thinking of getting a couple blue swedish ducklings from Metzer Farms. Has anyone else gotten blue swedish ducks from there? If so, are they good quality? In other words, do they actually have a defined bib and nice colorings? Pics would be appreciated too :). Thanks!
My parents are only allowing me to get two more ducks, but I am trying to pick between three breeds:
Welsh Harlequin
Khaki Campbell
Blue Swedish
I want to get one duck of one breed and one duck of another. Also, I have an all drake flock so these are going to be drakes.
Does anyone have any...
