I got 6 new chickens today, they are about 1 an

I'm getting a few new chickens this year, and was wondering what can I have in the backyard that the chickens won't tear up (my mom was displeased that none of her plants survived last year).
Thanks in advance!
I went to collect eggs today and found a soft shell egg broken open in the box. I have had these before, but as I went to clean it I realized the black poop wasn't there earlier, and there is some type of string thing coming off the top of the egg. I didn't move anything so sorry the second pic...
Over the past few days my Rhode Island Red has been laying eggs slowly. She will sit on the nesting box for 2+ hours and then finally she lays an egg. Over the past few days her eggs have progressively gotten smaller and skinnier. She acts fine until she sits on the nesting box for ever, any...

I came home today and checked on them and she had gotten in with the bigger chickens and got attacked. I am bringing her in to my house to separate her. She has only been pecked to the skin, and part of her wing, so I guess I was lucky that they did not kill her, but I don't want her to die so...
I am new to turkeys, but got my first BBB a week ago. They are straight run, but if I have a hen I want to be prepared. So, do BBB hens get broody easily? And any other advice or tips you have would be greatly appreciated - Thanks
My chicks are about 1 month old now. I have been noticing that my one chick is almost fully black, yet it is supposed to be a barred rock. I have had them before, and never had a fully black barred rock. Thanks for any input!
I found this in my egg box today, I was wondering if it is a chicken egg or a Cayuga egg. My Cayugas are 8-9 months old but have not layed yet, and I thought this would be big for a first egg. Thanks for any advice!
