Hello, Hopefully I can find some answers here. I just returned from vacation and while I was away my wife was feeding and watering my quail for me. During the 8 days I was gone, I had 4 quail die and she couldn't explain any rhyme or reason for their deaths. When I arrived home yesterday the...
I've done a few incubations and every now and then I will get a chick (Quail) that will have his toes curled in. Is this caused by something I'm doing wrong during the Incubation period?
Thanks in Advance
Richard
I am going to venture into a crossbreed of a Mexican Speckled Quail and a Californian Quail. Just because, no other motive, just cuz.
Now, my question regarding the crossbreeding. Which should be the roo?
From what I've read, the offspring will be sterile, correct?
Lastly... Is it possible?
My friend and I decided to build a couple of 40' Flight pens and raise some Quail this year for dog training, hunting and to sell the remaining quail to hunting preserves. I feel we are feeding them too much, I do not believe they should be going through as much food as they are going through...
This year my friend and I decided we would raise 400 or so Flight Conditioned quail to sell. Well, the quail are 20+ weeks old now, fully conditioned and it looks as though we have a buyer for them. We have only one small problem. What do we transport them in? Are there boxes out there that can...
I recently purchased 120 Chukar offline and incubated them. After day 10 I candled them and knew right away that there was going to be a low hatch rate because there were about 40 of them that didn't seem to be fertilized (Bright Yellow, no heart beat)
Anyway,
What bothers me the most is I...
I ended up purchasing another Incubator and kept it on standby until the first set of eggs needed to go on Lockdown, at which time I deployed the new incubator for "Lockdown Purposes"
This morning my 18 Online Eggs hatched out 16 baby Chicks and hopefully the other two are on their way as well!
I had approximately 90ish Eggs in my Incubator and My 23 Day mark was on Saturday morning. I had two hatch Friday evening and all but 9 hatched on Saturday night, early Sunday morning. The 9 Eggs I felt were not going to hatch so last night I was going to clean out the incubator and had a chick...
Picked up 100 Bobwhite Quail Chicks last night that were just a few hours old and brought them home to the Brooder. This is my first time EVER Brooding anything, let alone chicks that are the size of my thumb and were only a few hours old.
So, I got up last night about 3am to check on them and...
Sooooooo, Here is the back story...
I purchased eggs from online and I was afraid they would arrive over Memorial Day weekend (that Saturday) which I was not in town. So I contacted the seller and asked them to not send until after the Holiday. I expected them to arrive on Wednesday.
On...
So Saturday I got my new Quail pen put up in the back yard which looks amazing I might add. Anyway, it probably wasn't 20 minutes after I put the Bobwhites in the pen they started whistling "BOB WHITE"
I told my wife, now this is the South right here! Sitting in the backyard, enjoying a cold...
Hello all, I am building a Pen this evening for some bobwhite quail that I am purchasing this weekend for breeding and egg laying purposes. The Pen I am building will have 3 Separate runs that are 6' Long 2' Wide and 1' High. The Run will be attached to a Coop that will have 3 Separate...

This will be my first time hatching Quail and would like a good feel for how many I could brood in something like this?
Thank you
Hello everyone, my friend and I are going to try our hand at raising some Quail from Incubation through adulthood and I have just a quick question. When or after you purchase the eggs to incubate, how long do I have after they arrive that they need to be in the Incubator?
Thanks and I can’t...
