I'm pretty sure I have 7 hens but about every day I suspect one of them might be a rooster .... mostly, I'm concerned about the silver one, "Nicky". She is bigger and carries herself differently. Longer neck, thicker legs.... but, at about 17 weeks she would already look more like a rooster (?)
This morning I found a big 'ol rat wandering in my chicken run. I have not seen them around before and now I am worried. The chickens were safe in their coop (it is a raised coop, 4 ft. off of the ground, and really...I need to get another job to pay for all of the hardware cloth I've used in...
I just returned from the post office and only two of the seven chicks I ordered survived :( They are both eating and drinking...looking healthy and happy. Is there anything in particular that I should be watching for? Thanks.
I'm wondering if anyone has used a liquid rubber floor coating for coops? I'm building a coop (first time :) and had read about Blackjack 57 but that is not available in my area so I was looking for an alternative that would serve the same purpose. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks.
