It's almost morning, and we just found a baby squirrel that fell from our front yard tree.
I'm thinking of putting it in a box near where it fell and leaving it til it's mom finds it in the morning, perhaps putting it on the front porch so it's easier to watch for her.
Thoughts? My husband...
So we have mice with a brood of babies in our front yard, my husband doesn't want to dispose of them, despite my warning that they will keep having more broods of babies and will stick around.
I've noticed a lack of eggs from our chickens and ducks the last couple of years, partially due to...
A few weeks ago we picked up chicks at our local TS, all were doing pretty ok, but then one started just laying around. She act like she can't move her legs, just flops over and lay around. I think it's spraddle legs, but it doesn't add up to what I have read before, it started at least after...
Is it possible to start telling male vs female to a select few at this age? Peking 3 weeks and magpies 2 weeks.. Just heard a quack from one and a couple others I’ve heard a low raspy bug sound.. if that makes sense.. I know voices will change over time, I’m just curious on others experiences.
First time duck mom here.. a little over a week ago we brought home 2 ducks from the feed store, sadly we ended up loosing one. Question about this little thing, is it bonding with my children and myself?
Anytime I go and check it, it’s with a group of chicks at the moment, it goes crazy...
Southern MS.. Mosquitoes everywhere.. Egad.
Anyway, on with question. As far as we can tell we are dealing with dry pox, as soon as I noticed the scabs I started adding ACV one day and chick vitamins/electrolytes the next to the water, as well as bit of garlic in their feed each day. So far...
These 14 our from our 2nd hatch. They are roughly 7 weeks old. Some cockerels are pretty easy to point out, others not so much. Guesses?
Guessing cockerel. Think this is pure Australorp.
Guessing cockerel.. This big one is part lorp and cornish cross!
Guessing cockerel...
April 27 and 28th we got two shipments of chicks in. One from McMurray and one from Meyer's. They both sent an extra and I'm not 100% on what they are.
I had to triple check this one to make sure it was the same chick.. Leg color change? First guess was Speckled Sussex.. Now I'm not so...
I have a leghorn who has yet to shown his manliness to the ladies. He's approx 26 weeks old, no crowing or anything. Not that we would complain.
Here's the problem though! Earlier this morning I noticed he was a bit slow but didn't think much of it. Then just a few minutes ago I noticed...
We have a flock of 29, this includes 2 boys who just started crowing and attempting to mate only a month ago. Everything was going fine until a few days ago. The boys started to go after 1 of our 3 older girls -Who's name is Cricket-! Now the problem here is that when she was younger she hurt...
So bit of a back story..
Early this year our first flock of chickens were reduced from 27 to 3... This was hard and we had no idea what we were dealing with until it was almost too late. We treated with Sulment and the 3 girls were fine..
We recently put out our 2nd flock and all seemed...
Got a batch of rainbow layers in today from McMurray, all alive and doing just fine. Anyone care to help guess the breeds?
I'm thinking this one might be an Australorp.
Another black one! White dot on her chest, and some white on the tips of her wings.
