Gave rooster away, hens seem stressed

rooster is gone. The girls seem to not take it well. Runny poop and not eating much. Yesterday they didn't even touch the corn which typically gets devoured. Anything I can do to ease the pain? Or is it a time thing. I understand the socialization of birds so since he was the boss man, I'm...

    How loud are your cockerels?

Curious as to how loud your Roos are. We found out, through this lovely forum, that one of the birds is a cockerel. I want to keep him. Wife does not. Town doesn't allow cockerels. Are they really that loud? Will they go all day making noise ? Thanks.

I will be putting in the chickens into the coop hopefully in the next 2 weeks, do I put them in the coop or the run as initial introduction? I feel the coop makes more sense as they can explore and go outside with the door open, I am not sure if they will find the inside if I let them in the...

    Poop question

So, my 3 week olds are laying really big turds. Like awkwardly big. All one color, maybe a tiny bit of white on one end, not runny, but not solid either. The only thing that changed is I switched from regular waterer to horizontal nipples. They spend a ton of time with them. Seem to really...

    Transitioned to horizontal nipples

Easy transition for my 2.5 week olds. Took them about 30 min to get the jist of it. No more changing water 3 times a day. They will have same nips in the coop so figured I might as well start now. They seem to be playing with it a lot. Seems more of a entertainment thing. :D
