Hi! So 2 1/2 years ago my birds were put down due to mycoplasma gallisepticum. They were my pets, I couldn’t bring myself to go into the coop and clean it, knowing that it was my fault they got sick (my numbers got way out of control-NEVER happening again). So my predicament is this... my dad...
My family can't afford to buy an incubator, and my grandpa's incubator was returned to him by who he had loaned it to with some pieces missing. So I was hoping to see some of all of your homemade incubators, and the plans to build it? Right now, to hatch eggs, I'm taking a risk to hope that I'll...
We are moving! It's a farm about 5-7 mins away from where we are right now. It has a coop already built there, a yard light that shines on the coop and reaches the barn (I have horses to), I get a bigger room, and more space for the chooks... *takes a breath*
So I can raise more babies next...
My bantam roo has frostbite, and I'm pretty sure that he also has a small infection from it. I have brought him home with me from my grandparents farm (without dad's knowledge) :/ in hopes of making him feel better, I didn't have the time tonight to rig something up in the coop for him, that's...
Someone in my area is selling guinea roosters that were born earlier this year. Is 20 dollars a fair price or not? Also, if I only bought one, is that alright? I have chickens obviously, lol, and I was just wondering if it would try to harm my hens or roosters?

I am wondering if a leghorn hen is supposed to have what looks like spurs on their feet, the leggy in question looks like a hen except for these spur-like growths on her legs
(She is on left)
I ordered ten gold and silver wyandottes from the bergs hatchery this spring ended up with two golds that I'm able to keep, a pullet and a cockerel. I was wondering:
#1- how old are chickens when they begin to go broody and hatch chicks
#2- is it safe to hatch chicks in winter
I understand that...
Here you can post up to five pics of your Wyandotte friends, be It hens or roosters!
( no prize )
I'll go first:
This is my baby Bella
She's a SLW
She's 3 1/4 months old
I have five roosters, two are being either sold, or unfortunately, butchered. What I am keeping will be 1GLW, 1SLW, and 1 banty. I have 4SLW hens, 1GLW hen, 2 banty hens, 2 unknown breed hens, and 1 silkie/BO mix hen. Will that be enough hens for the three of them? None of them are really...
Some of the chickens my aunt and uncle moved here last fall have possibly gotten cocci. I was wondering if any one could tell me what the most common symptoms are for this illness. There are about 5 hens or Roos that are bleeding from their vents. So if anyone could tell me any thing about cocci...
I am looking for help on sexing these Wyandotte chicks I have just been guessing as they grow and if course they all have names, even thought I have switched a few. :)
Bella-
I came across an add at my local feed store saying bantam chicks for sale, and I'd been looking for a few bantams for a while, so I went with my mom, cousins and sis to check it out, I picked out three and my cousins and my sis picked out one each as well. I asked the owner what type of bantams...
I will have about 7 hens and one rooster after my chicks are completely grown, and I was looking at pics of coops online and found this:
Would this work for that amount of chickens, and be portable? My family is currently renting because we had a house fire a few years back and my one hen is...
I have 13 chickens and need a portable and cheap but efficient coop, right now the three hens are staying at my grandparents farm and my chicks are here in the house at my house, but I would like to be able to keep them all here at home, and I can't think of a coop, but I don't want them to free...
