I have a barred rock pullet with what looks like orange stripes on her legs? It doesn't appear to be hurting her but I would like to know what it is. And how do I treat it if it needs treatment? Forgive me if this has been posted one hundred times before. I did try to search for it before...
I am down to a BR pullet and an EE pullet (of the six that I brought home from my daughters class - 4 were roos - what luck!!!) in my run/coop now, but have bought 2 chicks and am going back to the feed store for one more chick and a 4 month old faverolle pullet.
My question pertains to the...
I posted pics of these two chickens some weeks ago (here are updated pics) and if I remember correctly the concensus was that the EE was a hen and the BR was a roo. For weeks now the EE has been the dominate chicken though. However, this morning we finally heard the BR crow. It appears he is...
I want a few more chicks/chickens but won't be ordering the 25 min. that is required by McMurray's. I only want 5 more (now). Are there hatcheries in CA that will let me order that few or do I need to visit my feed store?
If anyone can suggest the best and quickest way to get rid of roos (without killing them - I'm not there yet) it would be greatly appreciated. Two of my six chickens are crowing already (only 9 weeks old) and I don't want my neighbors giving me grief.
Or if anyone lives near me (Roseville, Ca)...
I'm not sure if this is where this message should go but . . .
My neighbor recently got stung by a bee and then got a bacterial infection. Her hand is very swollen. According to her, the doctor asked if she lived near live stock. At first she said no but then mentioned our chickens. The...
Here are the other three chickies. I did the best I could on the pics, tried to follow the guidelines etc. If you need better shots please let me know. Oh and all of them are about 8 weeks old.
Thanks
I have six chicks that I brought home from my daughter's kindergarten class and thus don't really know what I got. Most are probably EE's but if you could look and tell me what you think, that would be great. I'm interested too in which one's you think are roos and which hens (or pullets?)...
My husband and I started our coop a couple of days ago. We still need to put up walls but the frame is built. Today I read several posts on chicks being killed by raccoons. I have already had them on my mind and was trying to build the coop with them in mind (did the same for the run too.)...
I have been to this web-site soooo many times already, I figured I better join.
I did an impulsive thing. My daughter's kindergarten class hatched chicks and I took the 6 that made it. They are so cute but I have no idea what kind they are. I'll just have to wait and see. The not knowing...
