My white rock had these nasty looking hard bumps all over when we began to process him. He'd had one on his wing that wasn't responding to treatment so I was going to cut the wing off and use the rest of the meat. Not now! The more I plucked the more of these things I found. What are they...
My Favrolle cockrell has something wrong with his eyes, looks like his third eyelids will not retract all the way and are pink. I was told it was likely a sinus infection and to treat it with triple antibiotic ointment. I've been treating his eyes twice a day for a week now and it hasn't changed...
I've never incubated eggs, but a friend of my hubby let me have these nifty old bators! I know they'll need cleaning, new wiring and probably other parts as well, but they're so cool Problem is, I've no idea how to operate them Any and all advice and/or information about the repair, running...
One of my red rangers has a horrible honking cough/ sneeze. I immediately isolated her and started a course of terra vet at 1 1/2 Tblsp per gallon. I haven't detected any sneezing or rattling with any of my others (layers, meaties and two ducks), but have yet to go out and do a bird by bird...
This little guy(gal?) has the craziest wings. What causes this? Doesn't seem to impede him. At 3 weeks he does everything any normal chick does. I think it's kinda cute actually - but should I be worried?
And his little butt has never been pasty, sore, or picked at by the other chicks, yet...
My friend sent me these pics of her frizzle chick shortly before it died. She came home and found it in the brooder on it's back with legs straight out. I'm thinking maybe a vitamin B deficiency...?
I have an adorable 3 week old bantam -probably Cochin mix because of it's heavily feathered legs- that has this funky little headress and eyebrow thing going on. It was supposed to be a frizzle, no sign of a perm yet (which doesn't bother me cause I bought it to see what color it'd be at...
This picture doesn't show his bump real clearly, but was the best I could get. The bump is on the right side of his breast but doesn't seem to hurt him when I touch it. It's quite solid and doesn't move around and is about the size of a walnut shell. Any input will be much appreciated.
Just found out my month old Sussex is a cockrel. All of a sudden he grew this big bright comb. I have 4 others, different dual purpose breeds, that are about 8 weeks ~ all pullets. BTW, thanks to everyone for helping me sex them. First time chicken owner.
Since I got them, my Austrolorp has...
So excited to finally have my chicks! So nice to find a site to learn more about them. Been wanting them for years now, but convinced my husband lately that I really need a hobby. I have 5 pullets (I hope) - Austrolorp, Sussex, Orpington, Plymouth Rock and a Naked Neck. Only had them about 10...
