    Injured chicken info

One of my silkie bantams got brutally pulled out of the coop I was rebuilding last week by my husky. I honestly thought she was dead but she wasn't. Sand or pine shavings?!

What works better?! My chicks will go in the big coop in a few weeks and I'm trying to figure out what to use. They're on pine shavings now and they get it in everything but seem to enjoy it.

    best way to mark chicks?

I have elastic bands, but they're bantam chicks so the bands are still too big and probably will be for a few weeks. I've read about food dye and washable markers but what's your best advice for marking chicks to identify them?

    keep your babies calm

I'd have to say, the best thing I've heard is to put a feather duster in with your new hatchlings. At first I thought it was silly but I did it and it totally works. They stopped crying as soon as I put it in the brooder and they now snuggle up underneath of it and fall asleep togethe .
