We have a flock of bantams, one of our silkies today started making a strange noise. She’s walking, eating and drinking But is distressed. We have no chicken antibiotics……
This lil nugget is 5 weeks today. No copper color coming In anywhere yet. Comb doesnt really have any pink tones. Legs are on the larger side and wattles as you can see are a bit pink. I’m not familiar with the breed so anyone if it’s leaning a pullet or cockerel? T.I.A 😊
Most of my wheaten marans have been straight forward with buff/white chest feathers or obvious dark/blk feathers. What gender pattern is this??…. Splash or blue wheaten…… it’s like black fleck on caramel??
3wk FBCM. I know it’s early but have heard many things about tell signs that show early in some breeds, anyone have guess as to whether this lil chick is a roo or a pullet? comb very yellow. Wattles light pink. Staring chest bump/flight. I’m leaning male but this is my first FBCM.
I have 5 wheaten marans that have shoulder feathers coming in. I would like your thoughts on what they are. I know it’s early and will wait till chest feathers or red comb come in early to verify. Also have a black copper maran. I know you can’t really tell much this young but wasn’t sure if...
Wheaten chick from my first hatch. I’m thinking it’s a blue wheaten (possible colors are wheaten, blue-wheaten or splash wheaten) but I’m not sure. It has white chest feathers and light colors so I’m guessing female?? 4 weeks old. Any guesses or for sures?
I read you can sex wheaten Marans by color. Not sure if that’s the same for Ameraucana but the lightest chick in the photo of 3 is not a maran, it’s wheaten ameraucana. My first time with the breeds or color Sexing so I would appreciate anyones input. I thought maybe it was just the one maran...
I have a brooder box with 8 bantam chicks (All female) Oegb, silkies, D’uccle, Cornish and this d’anver is the smallest. I heard a loud noise earlier and about 30 minutes ago I noticed the D’anver off to the side lowering her head like she was going to sleep. I realized she’s lethargic and...
My 4 week Wyandottes comb is already pinking and it has red wattles. Is this a male? Or how and what age does the bantam Wyandotte present what sex it.
I have some hatchery silkie bantams. Two of them are 4 weeks old and their combs are very different. is it anything to do with the sex? I was taking pictures to ask if they looked more male or female at this point when I found the bumps on the comb 🧐 The flat combed one is a buff. It’s the...
If you have any guesses, please tell me how sure you‘re and think you are right. just a guess or almost positive? :) I know silkies are difficult to sex and this is early. 🌸
These two birds are the same age from a hatchery. Do Polish pullets/cockerels grow at the same rate? Here’s a pic of our two, one has a comb already. Does that mean it’s a cockerel or is this chick just growing differently/different pace then the other.?
I have 6 silkies. 2 black, 2 white and 2 gray. I saw another thread where sometimes silkies are sexed at a day or two by wing sexing. Do any of you have thoughts as to what these little fluffs are?
