    Hen pecked cockerel

    I tried to introduce a 5 month old cockerel to my 5 mature hens, and they are very mean to him. My question is: Will he eventually take his rightful place in the flock? Or should I separate him until his is mature?

    Weak yolks?

    I have what would be considered I'm sure, a minor yolk problem. Some of the eggs my hens lay seem to have weak yolks. For no matter how gently I crack them open they spread out as if they had been poked. Is this normal? Or perhaps caused by some deficiency in their diet?

    Looking for poor flyers

    I have what seems to be a perfect sized chicken run, but the fence is only 4 ft. high. So I would like to obtain a breed of chickens that are poor flyers. Any suggestions?

    Fertile Egg Question

    I recently added a rooster to my flock of hens, and my wife is worried that one day while preparing breakfast she will crack open an egg with a partly developed chick inside. Should that be a concern?

    Feeder & Waterer Question

    I'm new at raising chickens, and I'm building a coop. And I would like to keep the feeder inside, and the waterer outside. Is that a good idea, or not? Thanks for any help.
