Hi anyone know or are breeding Bantam Cochins in California. I am in the east Bay Area and would like to add several to our flock. And a few silkies too.
We have 10 hens. 3 are daily layers, they were laying when we got them.
We have 7 pullets 6 of which we have raised since day 1. The 6 are 19 weeks old. The other is close behind but we are unsure of the exact age.
These 6 (3-RIR and 3-EE) show absolutely NO signs they will be laying anytime...
We have 10 chickens consisting of 3 Layers and 7 pullets (?) All 3 of our layers use the same nesting box. We have 4 nesting boxes total. They will not lay in the other 3 boxes. Actually I've seen them "wait in line" for the golden nesting box. The 7 pullets are very close to laying age (17...
4 months old and I'm questioning it everyday. My husband and I marked all the suspected hens with a leg band. I am not sure we "guessed" the amerucanas correctly. This ones feathers are more drab than the other 2. What are the tell tale signs? [/IMG]
