I'd love to find someone with light sussex in western KY. I'm in Paducah and I've had no good results from buying hatching eggs by mail. I'm just looking for a few birds or some eggs. Market value paid and will pick up.

Can brooding hens successfully incubate eggs in cool weather? I have a silkie brooding right near the coop enterance (which closes at night) and cool weather has set in. Also, can I expect to see them get off the eggs to eat/drink?

I have three laying silkies each with about ten to twelve fertile eggs in their nests and are still laying. When will they become broody? If they don't, can these eggs be safely used (cooked) after being there for almost two weeks?
