Using 20% Corid as a Drench

So if I got this right if i dissolve 3/4 of teaspoon of 20% Corrid in one milliliter of water I will have 400mg/ml roughly +/-. For an eight pound bird I would give 0.2ml of the solution for 5 days. Is that correct? I am at a loss what is wrong with 2 of my birds age 10-12 months. They...

    Cleaning Up The Leahy

A little bit of elbow grease, a green scubby, a lot of Murphys oil soap and the destruction of one kitchen towel and the old redwoods clean up real nice. Prerequisite to bringing it in the house. I thought the mud dabber nests and broken egg shells gave it character and credibility.

Influence of corn and other plant extracts on the color of white feathers.

I've read and heard a lot of hearsay about how corn and other plant extracts used to enhance skin color also will affect the color of white feathers. The Difference a Quality Ration Will Make

My exhibition show poultry are to valuable to become a varmints snack. The recent cold snap has generated a few eggs now and again. Side by side comparison of 2 of my eggs with store bought. And a pic of my cockerel shank color.

Embryo ability to withstand a temp drop

Last Sunday I took a road trip. I harvested the hatched chicks and tossed them in a brooder with a training chick from the previous weeks hatch. I was on the road by 430am. I returned at 530pm on Monday evening to discover that I hadn't turned the incubator back on before I left. It had...

Shortening the incubation to 20 days?

I know it's written in stone, an absolute rule and it can probably be found in the Bible that 'Tho shalt incubate chicken eggs for 21 days.' I was wondering if there were any brave souls who wanted to risk not going to heaven and intentionally raise the temp to hatch in 20 days? Apparently...

Using calf manna as a supplement for chicks.

Has anyone tried it? Results. I know it gives then diarrhea when fed in liquid form due to lactose intolerance. I've changed the delivery by spritzing their mash lightly with water and giving it a heavy dusting with the replacer. No diarrhea but wondering if it will make a difference worth...

Showing and working to the SOP

Genetics to me is nothing more than a numbers game. I agree that when high quality is mated to high quality there is a much higher potential that their will be high quality chicks hatched but at the end of grow out more will be eaten than saved. This is what my goal is. However this plus...
