No eggs in over a week...

So, 3 of my pullets have started laying in the past couple of months. They were laying on a somewhat regular schedule. When hurricane Irma passed our area, we had a cool snap for about 3 days. Since then, I haven't gotten any eggs! During that time, I ran out of their regular layer pellets and...

    Look, look, JUST LOOK!!!

Oh my goodness!!! I finally got my first egg today! And I must say, it's a beauty! Thelma, the White Leghorn, really made me proud. My youngest son Nathan, aka my chicken helper, checked the nest boxes and came in smiling like the Cheshire cat! Can't wait to see if she produces again tomorrow!

    WTH just happened??!!

So, I have separated my pullets from my cockerels due to the boys being a little to over zealous with one of my girls. So, just now I'm sitting out by my coop/lot just chilling with them before bedtime... Well one of my EE boys walks up to me, grabs ahold of my arm and mounts my hand!!! Two...

    A watched pot...

I have a small flock of 7 pullets and 6 cockerels. I think one of my 21 week old White Leghorns is getting ready to lay our first egg! I was letting them free range from around lunchtime til they went back to roost at dusk. I know 6 roos is a little serious, but so far so good... The one WL has...

    How big? Mixed with?

So, got these "Silkies" from the "bantam" bin at TSC back in March. I posted a couple pics when they were younger and was told they are not truly Silkies and they were probably mixed with Cochin. Well, now they are huge at 12 weeks old (largest roo at least 16" tall or more). I'm wondering how...

    When to expect first eggs???

Good afternoon all! Just wondering when I should start expecting my first egg.... I have 2 white Leghorns- 8 weeks old, 2 Silkie mixes- 8 weeks (these came from the bantam bin, but are quite large. I was told by a BYC they are probably mixed with Cochin) 1 Black Australorp- 8 weeks (this is...

    Help sexing Easter Eggers...

I have 8 Easter Eggers and am wracking my brain trying to figure out who is what.... One has a bigger and more deeply colored comb so I'm hoping he is the only boy! I don't have individual pics of all yet and these aren't great cause my phone was almost dead. Thanks for any...

Chicks not as interested in starter feed...

So, my chicks are 7-8 weeks and 4 weeks old. I'm noticing since they are all together, outside, in their coup/run that they seem less and less interested in the starter feed I've had them all on since getting each batch. They do eat it, but some days there is right much left when I go back to...

    New member, Hello!

Hi everyone! I'm new to BYC, not new to chickens in general as my family has pretty much always had chickens, but I'm just starting my very own flock. My new flock includes 2 White Leghorn pullets, 4 Silkie Bantams (guessing 2 pullets and 2 roos by wattle and comb development) all about 7 weeks...
