Ok, so I got this tiny, tiny egg today.
Two of the chicks hatched from a Polish mix blue green egg. They are mutts of mutts basically. But today I got this tiny, tiny egg. My polish mix had given me an egg today already and she's the only one that lays this color and size. So my young ones...
Three weeks old and out and about after a rain. Raising chicks the natural hands off way has been a piece of cake! Momma hen really knows best. I let her hatch them alone. But at day three, I opened the separated area in the run, let them out and things just magically work. She protected...
Opened the door to my sectioned off part of the run to let momma hen and her chicks out to see what they would all do with each other! Momma, chicks, rooster, and other adult hens did great! When any other chicken would come close, mother hen would fluff up and growl at them and they kept...

I heard some chirping when I went to check on my chickens for the evening!!!!
Well, I told myself that if one of my hens went broody, I'd let her sit on some eggs! My chickens are mutts and it's going to be interesting to see what nature gives me!
She's sitting on 8 eggs now. Was 9 eggs. But I candled them when she got off the other day and saw that 8 out of the 9 had...
Now at 12 weeks old, the new 9 chickens have had their second outing from the run. They love it and now follow the older chickens in at dark! Had to round up a few on their first outing.
Holding onto 4 roosters to see who is going to play the nicest for a while. Then three will find new...
She was given to me as an olive Egger. But I know that's just an Easter Egger that lays an olive egg. But any further idea other than a mutt? She loves to be held and will just fall asleep on us. 10 weeks old and hardly a comb on her.
Her sister is the last picture.
I was thinking some...
OK I have one young one at 11 weeks old still fooling me. I just got rid of 6 roosters out of a straight run and I kept this one because I am not sure yet.
These are EE and Buff Orpington mixed.
The first four pictures are of the chicken in question and the other pictures are reference...
OK, got some better picture of my 8-9 week old EE and Buff Orpington mixes. 12 in total. But I have a feeling that I don't have very many pullets at all.
Should be two pictures of most of them. Tried to get best pictures I could. Two for sure are pullets and I am 100% positive on another...

I have 12 chickens I received at 3-4 weeks old. They are now 8-9 weeks old. One is much bigger than the others. But it's becoming mine...
Well, some of my older hens, (I have 6) have stopped laying or maybe giving an egg every once in a blue moon. I was going to eat/rehome and replace. Except the oldest hen is Fluffy Foot. She's a Fluffy Footed Cochin that my middle child named and was one of our first chickens. My daughter...
Well my rooster is five months old. Ever since his comb even began growing it's been floppy. Looks nice and red. He is mixed red sex link.
Any reason to worry about it. He's just turning ito to be quite a good looking bird except this unruly comb he's growing.
Cloudy and rainy today. But everyone is out and hanging out. My three younger ones are finally getting accepted by the older hens. But the older gals are keeping my new cockrel in line too. He's trying to do his man stuff. But the older ladies are having non of it yet. And they are showing...
I have been posting already. But never really introduced myself.
I started my flock about 7 months ago with 6-8 month old hens. I got 5 of them. They morphed into 8 hens at one point and then had a stray dog take two of my favorite ones from me.
I recently had to cull a sick bird that was...
Well, I got three new additions not long ago and they all looked like hens to me!!!
Well our Izzy (Isa Brown mix) is now showing some very pointed saddle feathers and started hopping on the backs of our older hens last week. So is our she really a he?

Well first off, new to the forum as a member. Been reading ever since getting my first five hens a few months back. I went with 6 month old hens to start my flock.
Well, my buddy has a beautiful Rhode Island Red Rooster (HUGE). And some EE hens...
