    Buff Orpington, 4 wks

Buff Orpington pullet chick from My Pet Chicken, 4 weeks old today. Comb and wattles are bigger and redder than any of the other chicks, including the other BO in the batch. Legs and body are heavier than the other chicks. I know it's early, but is this a likely cockerel?

    What color ducklings?

I have zero idea how color genetics work for Muscovy ducks. If the parents are both black and white, will all ducklings be black and white? Or are other colors possible? New to hatching - viable?

I picked up two fertile muscovy duck eggs to put under my broody pullet. I candled them when I got home. Am I correct that only one of these is viable? There is visable movement in the reddish egg. Thanks!

    My first coop!

We started in on our first coop! We have 9 chicks that will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. We live in the Arizona desert, so we're building for hot hot summers and mild, dry winters. So far we've cleared and leveled the area, and started laying the cinder block foundation. Here we go!
