I was just wondering if maiden grass and porcupine grass are poisonous to ducks. I have northern pintails soon to be moved into their aviary and don't want to take any chances. Thanks.
This is hope:
I had to help her out of her egg today at about 9:00 AM. She hadn't pipped and was peeping her head off. So I decided to help. She had her ambilical cord still stuck to her
and the shell, so we had to snip that off at the very end, and the rest fell off later. She really...
All of my eggs have hatched, or so I thought. There is 2 that I thought not viable, but when I went to take them out, 1 peeped! So should I help it hatch, or do nothing? It hasn't pipped yet and I don't know if it will.
I used to raise chickens, about 7 years ago....... I raised all rhode island reds and used a 6 foot fence.. Would a 4 foot with no net on top keep them in? Thanks in advamce.
And it looks awesome. I still have to paint it, but it still looks good. I built it all out of scraps too! It is the duckling house, and the ducks will only be residents of this house for about a month, because I'm so addicted to incubating.... I got all the plywood and nails from around my...
I have a cayuga, which I'm pretty sure is a hen. She doesn't have that curly feather on the back.. But the reason I'm asking is because she hasn't laid yet this year, and the rest of my flock has. I got her as a duckling in early June. What the heck!??!
I've got this duck egg in the 'bator, with this little tiny hole in it. Probably about the size of a pin head. He hasn't made any effort to enlarge the hole... Could it be a pip?
To stupid racoons! I spent hours predator proofing the whole house and the racoon was able to open the latch! It took 2 last night, 2 two nights ago, and the rest of my ducks ran away! I am so sad!
Ok on my duck egg it's day 29, and still no pip! When should I stop waiting?!?!? I really don;t want this one to die, and I'm afraid my first hatch will have to be an assisted hatch! Aren't they supposed to break into the aircell? I haven't even seen it do that! I'm so nervous!!!!
And still no pip! Isn't it supposed to break into the air cell? It still hasn't done that! I'm gettin really worried that the first duckling I'll ever have incubated was an assisted hatch!
AAAHHH!
It's my first hatch, and there's only one egg in the bator.... It's day 28 and there's still no pip! Should I drill a small hole in the aircell or what?
I'm so nervous!!!!!
Can you guys pull together and suggest to me a couple of incubators that: Can hold aroud 20 eggs(no more really), are cheap(under $50), and are reliable? Thanks!
I'm so excited! So it's day 11 of my duck egg incubation... And for the first time I say movement during candleing! I just wanted to share my joy with all ya'll!
