    What is this?!

Does this look like a fertilized egg? I shouldn’t have any since I have no cockerels. But this stood out to me today when I was making breakfast.

4th injury to same chicken (Gross pics)

Help! I have a pullet that has injured herself 4 times in the last 1.5 months. In two spots. Twice by her neck. And now twice on her chest. Last time it looked like a puncture wound. This time there is a bulge. Maybe it’s just blood. But I don’t know what to do for this chicken.

    Squat and now we wait

i have 17 pullets that are just over 18 weeks old. A handful of them are squatting as of Sunday. :weeWhich, you should see me... I’m running around trying to see which ones squat. They keep talking back to me but I just ignore their banter. Funny thing is we leave for a 5 day anniversary trip on...

    THE CHEEPS ALMOST GOT ME!!!

Oh my gosh... I went into Wilco (my local farm store) and I heard them calling me... "April" "April" "Pick me!" "Pick me!". I circled those babies for 30 minutes. I almost came home with some chicks. I just got chicks in November!!! These girls aren't laying yet and this by far is the longest...

    Death Wish

Have any of you had a chicken who just has a death wish??? 3 weeks ago, it was snowing and beautiful outside. My sweet 14 week old white leghorn was pouring blood out of her neck! I’m thinking a broken pin feather. Regardless - white world, white chicken.... shocking bloody mess. A week later...

    Fencing for sectioned off area

Hi there!! We built an 8x8 walk in coop with an attached covered run of 11x23. We’ve been letting our juvenile babies free range in the yard for the last month or so. However.... there is poop everywhere. EVERYWHERE! I have 3 kids that will be wanting to play outside as Spring makes it’s...

    November hatched Egg-a-long

Hiiii!!! I got a brilliant idea to do an “egg-a-long”. Kind of like a hatch-a-long but just waiting for who lays the first egg! No prize (except an egg!!) but thought it would be fun. I wanted to restrict it to November hatchlings. That way we’re all within a few weeks. Also, posting photos of...

    Injury or attack?

We came home from being gone a few hours. Its snowing for the first time since my chickens went to the coop. My husband was going out to close up the run since there was no point leaving it open since free range wasn’t happening with all the white stuff! One of my leghorns came out to greet him...

    Guessing age?

Im not sure if this is the right place. But I got 2 pullets that we’re similar in age to mine that I have been raising. This one is a BCM and should be about 12-13 weeks. But I’m thinking maybe farther along due to the comb and wattles? She doesn’t look like a cockerel to me. Your opinions?

Almost 10 weeks - cockerel or pullet?

So I feel like all my chickens are pullets. But sometimes, some days, I question one or two. Lol. So... two birds are up for guessing! One is a RIR and the other is a EE bantam.

    Queen of the roost

Hi all! I was putting my 8 week old girls to bed tonight and snapped a picture of them sleeping. They’ve been sleeping on the roosts for less than a week. Super proud of them! I’m curious what your take is on who is head pullet and how the pecking order goes based on these pics! When I let...

8 wk Barred Rock: pullet or cockerel?

I have 2 BR girls in my flock. Both have looked the same up to the last week. We kicked the girls out to the coop about a week ago and they are really starting to fill out. I noticed this one looking a little different. Way more in my face when I come visit and just noticed the pinking up of...

    Integrating chickens of similar age

I have a flock of 15 that are 7 weeks old (are they called chicks still?). Anyway, I have a friend who has a couple that are of similar age that we plan on picking up in a couple weeks which makes them close to 9 weeks. How should I integrate them? Most talk about integrating new girls to older...

    7 week olds bragging pics!

Almost 3 week old chicks - roo?

Hi! I have questions about two sets of my chicks. Because of I two of the two breeds, I compare their growth to see if one will end up being a roo. I did pay to have them sexed so all should be female. Any thoughts?

2 week old chick - acting abnormal.

I have a chick that was really active and stayed with the flock. When I come greet them, they come running! I try to make sure all of them come out. I noticed in the last 24-48 hours that she doesn't come out as much. When she goes somewhere in the brooder, she'll lay down there. For instance, I...

    Week old chick lifting leg

Hi all. I have a chick I got last Wednesday and it’s about a week old. She has always been a little shy and not nearly as active as my other chicks. I think she got dehydrated so I pulled her out and gave her nutridrench and polyvisol with a dropper. She won’t eat chick starter from my hand or...
