Hi there, I have three 18 month old Wyandotte hens that have stopped laying completely. I have not had an egg from either one for over two months. We are coming into winter here in Australia. Is this normal or should I be worried about other health related matters. Cheers, Paul M
Hi all,
I noticed a scab on the beak of one of my girls and wanted to photograph it to get your opinion. In the process of trying to get her into position for a photograph she brushed her beak on the wire of the coop and has knocked the scab off. Looks pretty nasty… Does anybody have an opinion...
Hi all, apologies in advance if this is a stupid question but I’m a bit of a Newby. I have 3 Wyandotte hens that seem to be in good health. This morning I noticed that one of them had feathers missing across her lower chest area. I checked the other two and they are all the same. Is this normal...
Hi all,
Does anyone have an opinion about this? Mites or just some flaking?

Thanks in advance.

I find this both bizarre and disturbing in equal measure. Recently the smallest of my girls, who coincidently happens to be at the bottom of the pecking order, has become broody. She comes out in the morning to feed and water, then jumps straight back into the coop. The last three...

Hi all, I’m a newbie, so I hope someone can advise.
I have three Wyandotte hens, and I’ve noticed on the smallest one that she has broken tail feathers. She’s definitely at the bottom of the pecking order, but I’ve never seen the other two birds give her anything more than a gentle peck at...
Hi there, I’m hoping somebody can offer some advice. I picked up three hens a few weeks ago and about 10 days ago realized one of them had a fairly heavy mite infestation. I’ve treated twice five days apart with the powder, and sprayed the coop with permethrin on two occasions. I just checked...
I've had chickens for about ten days, and a few days ago I found a heavy mite infestation on one of the birds. I've treated her twice with powder and am monitoring. This morning I found this stuck to my leg when I woke up in bed. WTF?!? Coincidence or is it related. I'm slightly creeped out by...
