Day 22: Pipped over 24 hrs, but no Zipper

Hi, First time incubating chicken eggs. So far, I had two that hatched last night and an additional two that are pipped. One has a zipper line and you can see it trying to get out, but seems stuck. The other one’s pip hole hasn’t really gotten bigger. You can see the beak moving. Questions...

    Is Light Necessary During Incubation?

First time incubating. I'm planning to use a dark closet inside of our guest bathroom that we don't really use. I figure this has the most stable temperature in the house, but it's almost pitch black in there unless I open the door or turn the light on. Is any kind of light necessary for...

What breed is this? Yellow chick with brownish feathers

I ordered all Dominques and received my order + 1 random yellow chick. The attached picture is at 23 days old. Is it too early to ID this chick breed? I tried to research this myself, and I’m thinking she’s either a Rhode Island Red, or a New Hampshire? Thanks in advance! :)

Heard this was the place for crazy chicken people...

Good Day Chicken Lovers! I’m new to the chicken world and even newer to the whole country lifestyle. I have been mother henning 10 awesome little ones. As of today, they are about 23 days old. I initially ordered 15, received 16, and 6 have died within the first two days. (1)Are you new to...
