Francisco is a gorgeous Easter Egger roo that is around a year old. He is not aggressive at all and is a good protector. We just have too many roosters. If you have green/blue egg layers, you can be assured that their eggs will hatch green/blue egg layers if he is the father. PM if interested...
Hi guys! We hatched four Easter Eggers in April and out of the four, only one is obviously a hen. Another does not have the long, swoopy tail of a rooster, but with the colors, I am pretty sure it is. I give you Mosaic. Please tell me whether it’s a rooster or a hen. Thanks in advance :).
i have a Rhode Island Red rooster that is a little over a year old. The last few nights, I have noticed that he wasn’t roosting in the coop. I didn’t think much of it until he was in the coop yesterday in the middle of the day. This morning, he was in there again. I managed to get him to come...
Hi! We put 8 incubated bantam eggs under a broody on 6/14. Firgured they’d hatch Tuesday or Wednesday. Checked last night and she had one chick, already fluffy and seemingly healthy. It has been hot here in NC, 90’s every day. Could that cause eggs to hatch early? Or is this one a “preemie”?
These guys or girls were hatched April 30th and should all be Easter Eggers. I don’t see much of a comb on any of them, but the black one’s tail is definitely different. Any help would be appreciated. Hope they’re clear enough; those little boogers can move!
We have a situation that we haven’t dealt with before and need advice. We have two hens that are broody, sitting on 8 eggs each. They have been in the same yard for around a year and were actually raised together as chicks. Their eggs should hatch on the same day, 5/25. Would it be okay to put...
This roo was sold to us as an Ameraucana, but now I’m pretty sure she didn’t know what she was talking about. We’ve had it in with our Easter Eggers that lay blue eggs and hope he is at least an Easter Egger.
Thanks for any help.
We have about 40 chickens in three connected yards. We had several sudden deaths last spring through summer and on having the last one necropsied, discovered it had Mareks. It seems to have run its course. I have read that chickens exposed to Mareks either die or their body becomes immune. I’ve...
Several months ago, we bought a coop and flock from someone getting out of chickens. Smoky was one of the sweet ones we got. It was obvious right away that she had a foot problem. It appeared she was missing a “toe”, but she walked pretty well.
Yesterday, hubby noticed she was hopping around on...
These two littles are around 8 weeks old now and almost as big as their bantam mommy. I’m hoping they’re both pullets, but know from experience that that is probably not the case. I have no idea who the mommies are, but the daddy is a Copper Marans. Thanks for any help you can give.
Sorry the...
We have had bad luck with hatching and buying roosters(were supposedly sexed), so we have a few too many. I would love to rehome them(free) instead of the going into a soup pot. All are 26 weeks old. I have a Barred Rock, very calm and small for a standard rooster, and two Delawares. One is...
I have a hen that I believe is a buff Orpington. We got her from someone giving away 2 chickens about a year ago. I’m not sure how old she is, but she only lays an egg once every few weeks, so we are thinking older. She has an obvious cataract and moves a lot slower than the other hens, but...
We bought 4 Ameraucanas from an amateur breeder. We already figured out one is rooster and now these other two are suspect. Can anyone tell me if they are roosters? She said if she made a mistake, we could bring them back.
We have an older chicken, not sure how old since we got her from someone with no idea how old she was. We went out this morning and she was lying on her side, spasming, mostly her neck. I mean, she was turning it completely one way and then back. She seemed to be almost paralyzed. I did not get...
These are my 6 week old chicks. Their dad is a French Copper Marans and I have no idea who their mom is. The one who sat on them is the grayish bantam in the pics. The dark legged one is quite a bit larger and it became fully feathered more quickly, but they were hatched the same day. The...
1.We got a few supposed female Ameracaunas a few weeks ago. Not only am I pretty sure this is not am Ameraucana (because it doesn't have a beard like my others), but it starting to look like a rooster. What do you think?
2. We bought 5 Super Blue chicks and this is the only female. Is she a...
I am almost positive that what has been killing some of my pullets is cocci. It happens every few weeks, with a younger chicken, and they are fine one day, near death the next. I finally got Corid. TSC was out so I had to order on Amazon. Go out to put it in water and another pullet is acting...
