    2 naked necks

I know it’s early, they’re about 2 months old, I’m guessing cockerels? Thank you!

    Easter Egger Roo Southern OR

I ended up with a rooster out of the tractor supply chicks I got 4 months ago. He’s an Easter Egger, so far good disposition but I’m in town and can’t keep him. Located in Grants Pass OR but willing to drive to get him a new home. Thanks!

    Breed & sex?

These three are around 9 weeks old. I know the all brown one is an Easter egger and I’m pretty sure a girl. The others, I haven’t the foggiest. Input? Thanks!

Two six week old Easter Eggers?

I have a couple sweeties here that I think are both pullets but I’m a newbie and can’t tell with the brown one. Feed store impulse buys to add to my flock. Is it safe to name them Carole and Corona? Thanks!

    Is this a lash egg?

I noticed one of my hens was kind of isolating herself when I was giving the others some treats. Dragged her out from under the deck and gave her a once over. I noticed something coming out of her vent, and pulled this out. It seems like it’s all just a soft shelled egg, but now I’m worried it’s...

Please say this is a pullet...

I’ve posted a lot in this forum because I’ve been winding up with a bunch of cockerels with this batch of chicks. I *thought* this one was safely a pullet until a few days ago when the beginnings of a pink comb started emerging. Please tell me this is okay. Born on Labor Day. It’s the brown one...

    Poopy Butts

The past week I’ve noticed 3 of my 4 girls have poop stuck in a trail down the feathers on their bottoms. I’ve checked out their vents the best I could and I don’t see anything out of the ordinary. They free range all day and get some table scraps as well as freeze dried mealworms and crickets...

    Yet another cockerel?

I’ve been having terrible luck with getting cockerels this round. This one will be my 6th chick that’s probably a boy. It’s around 7-8 weeks old now. Another cockerel, right? Aside from the pink comb/wattles I’m seeing some black feathers coming in on the chest.

    2 Possible Roos: Bay Area!

We wound up with a couple of what I think are young cockerels. One is a Cuckoo Maran, hatched on Labor Day. The other is a Partridge Cochin, a little older by a couple weeks. Both are cute, handled daily and given the best care. We just aren’t up for keeping a rooster. Looking for new homes!

    Labor Day Cuckoo Maran

I know it’s super early as this little one was hatched on Labor Day. I got it from a reputable farm who sexes them at birth but the pinking of the comb has me questioning things. I’m very much a newb, but from what I’ve heard, if you’re seeing pink at only 4 weeks, chances are it’s a cockerel...

    Am I being paranoid?

I’m over analyzing these chicks and every day I think another one is a cockerel. Help! What about this one? I’m guessing 5 weeks old and I think a Cochin. Is it another boy?

    A week later...

I posted last week regarding the stray we adopted. So far I’m not noticing anything out of the ordinary with how he/she interacts with the other 5 chicks we have. I got some better photos however. Do I have a little roo? Based on the pink I’m seeing?

I think I got all cockerels!

Help! My wife picked up 3 chicks to go with the stray we adopted. She got them from a lady on Craigslist so all bets are off as far as boys or girls but now I’m obsessing. Good news is that she’ll take back the ones who don’t turn out to be girls. Any guesses? Photos aren’t great but hopefully...

Little stray chick, what breed are you?

Stopped into the feed store just for feed this morning. Left with this little bugger. Someone had found him wandering, so he needed a new home, free of charge! My heart is too weak for such things. Any idea on breed, age, etc?

    Connecting coop and run?

Hi there! We’ve just had our chicks a month and a half, and finally got a coop. Thus far we’ve been bringing them inside from the run at night and back out in the morning. Any ideas on how to somehow connect the coop and run, other than pushing the coop against the run? The run is 16 feet long...

    Boy or girl?

I know it’s super early but I’d love some guesses just for the fun of it. I have four chicks, all almost 4 weeks. The black Orpington is so different seeming to me. Smaller in size/fluffiness, roosting on everything, skittish and it’s got a big comb, the others do not. This is my first year...

    Newbie with run questions

Hi all! This is my very first post, and I’m so appreciative of any feedback. I’m trying to figure this out on my own here, I’m not very handy, and I want to do it right. Having said that, I have four 3-week old chicks waiting for new digs and I’ve been kind of obsessing about it. I found a...
