    Cockerels or pullets?

Hey everybody, was wondering if these are both cockerels, I’m 99% sure the first one pictured is but I was leaning towards pullet on the second one. There both EE/golden comets that my hen hatched. There almost 11 weeks old today.

Free cockerels to good home in VA

Hey everyone, I’ve found myself in a situation here with way too many cockerels. I bought some straight run chicks hoping to get a new rooster to replace the one that I lost to a predator and I’ve ended up with 90% boys..... so I’ve got some EE’s, a couple bantams, and possibly a Wyandotte and...

    Barred rock cockerel?

9-10 weeks old. I’m guessing he’s a he because of his monster comb. But I know from experience barred rocks from the same hatching can vary in size. The other barred rock in the pictures is the same age. Thanks in advance.

    Help with breed

Purchased a few bantams from tsc and was wondering if anyone can help identify this little guys breed. They were just labeled as bantams. Thanks in advance. Oh, he’s 6-7 weeks old. And I say he because he’s already trying to crow.

    Rooster not himself

So yesterday afternoon I noticed my rooster put himself to bed early. He went into the coop a couple hours before all my hens, before that he had been acting fine all day. So this morning When I let the hens out he stayed inside, he’s usually the first one out. He hasn’t crowed all morning, he’s...

    Solitary confinement for problem hen

Long story short I’m trying to merge a flock of 6 pullets into my existing flock of 5. Most of the older hens are fairly accepting, all except one. Well last night my wife and I wrangled the problem hen into a dog crate, which is now in my garage. Thinking of keeping her separate for about a...

    Normal cockerel behavior?

pretty sure this has been posted before but I wasn’t sure where to look. I’ve got 5, old hens and a new flock of 6, 19 week old ee hens. Well I recently picked up a beautiful cockerel for free on Craigslist about two weeks ago. He just started crowing and has been relentlessly trying to mate...

Getting new flock into old coop

Ok. So this spring I decided to get 6 new chickens to add to my old flock of 5 for a grand total of 11. I raised the chicks in my garage until they where large enough to go outside. Which at that point in time I separated my existing run into two parts and built a temporary coop for the new...

    Help with thinning feathers

I’ve recently noticed all of my hens appear to have thinning feathers. There all around 15 months old, I’ve checked them for any visible pests and can’t find anything. I’ve read about feather mites but didn’t see any examples that seemed to match what my girls feathers look like. I’m worried as...

    Finally joined....

Hey everyone. I’ve been using this site since before I decided to get some chicks and it’s been extremely helpful along the way. My chicks are now a year old and I’ve got 8 more that are now 7 weeks old. Figured I’d finally join seeing as I’m always on here.
