How far do guineas typically free range?
Mine have recently started exploring the front half of my 10 acre property. Yesterday, they decided to give my neighbors a visit before taking a stroll down the road. I watched for a while, but decided to herd everyone back home before they went too far...
Can anyone help me identify what breed(s) this goose might be?
The lady I bought him from mentioned American Buff and Embden in her flock.
She thinks he is a gander based on attitude but isn’t certain. If he is indeed a gander and I have myself a goose, what colored offspring could I expect?
Does anyone know what breed of goose this might be?
I’m think she is a goose based on her sweet, quiet demeanor so far.
I purchased her at a livestock auction today and unfortunately don’t have any background info on the bird.
This past breeding season I had the opportunity to hatch out eggs from my own peafowl. The pen consisted of:
White peacock
India Blue Pied peahen
Purple peahen
India Blue peahen (white throat patch/ white wing feathers)
Cameo peahen (white throat patch)
I have decided to keep 2 peacocks...
I’m worried one of my eggs that is supposed to hatch this week is in trouble.
I set the egg 4/16 at about 10pm in the incubator at 99.5 F with a humidity of 55%.
The egg weighed 102.80 g.
On 4/23 it weighed 98.10 g
On 4/30 it weighed 93.24 g
On 5/2 I changed the humidity to 50% temp was kept...
After patiently waiting, what seems like an eternity, my peafowl are finally old enough to breed! This being my first time breeding I have a few questions.
A little background info, I have 5 two year old peahens (cameo, purple, india blue, and two india blue pieds), 1 two year old peacock...
First and foremost this post is not to bash Brad Legg and Legg’s Peafowl Farm. In my previous posts I never mentioned his name or where I purchased my birds because I wanted to give him a chance to address the issue. However I am writing this so no one has to go through what I have purchasing...
My peacock is changing colors! I thought I had a cameo cock but he has turned almost completely white. He will be 2 this coming spring. Is this normal, or might there be something wrong with him health wise? These are some pics of him from a few months ago:
These were taken today:
Just wanted to share some pics of the peas this morning. They are growing so fast and are such a joy to be around!
I had a question about these two. Are they a m/f pair? And are they cameos?
I also had a question about this bird. Is she a cameo hen?
Does anyone have any idea on what color varieties/ genders my peafowl might be? I have 8 that are about three months old and 2 that are a bit older.
Chick 1
Chick 2
Chick 3
Chick 4
Chick 5
Chick 6
Chick 7
Chick 8
Chicks 9 & 10
Does anyone know what kinds of pigeons these are? I bought them at at livestock auction today because they looked neat! Would they be okay to keep in my homer loft? Or should I keep them separate?
This is my second year hatching out goslings and I hatched out two a week ago! I’m giving them Purina Flock Raiser Crumbles and they seem to be doing great on it! They sure do grow FAST!
Now I had another gosling and turkeys hatch out yesterday. I plan on raising the gosling with the turkeys so...
I have a pair of Pomeranian geese that I hatched out from eggs last spring. The goose has started laying, but I’m not sure when to start incubating a clutch. I have a total of 7 eggs from her. I’m not exactly sure what day the first one was laid but I know for sure egg 4 was laid 2/15. Egg 7 was...
Hatched these two Pomeranian Saddlebacks the beginning of May. I think I have a m/f pair but wanted to see if anyone else had any guesses. The grey is bigger and very friendly. I’m thinking he’s the male. The buff is much smaller and more reserved. Hoping she’s a female!
