White Plymouth Rock Hen or Roo

These are my two White Plymouth rocks. They are 14 weeks old. I am pretty confident they are White Rocks. Now comes the question of are they hens or are they roos. They look exactly the same as each other and act exactly the same. They are very friendly and always under foot when I go to feed...

What might she be crossed with?

This is Charlette she is about 4 months old now. I was told she is a Cochin/D'uccle mix. I'm not so sure she is. She does not have as much feathering on her feat like her sisters. Charlette is the black and brown chicken. Her feathers look green in the sun light.

    Frizzle D'uccle?

I have 5 baby chicks that I picked up. 3 were supposed to be D'uccle chicks and 2 are D'uccle/ Cochin mix. The 2 black chicks I have are the mix ones. The three D'uccle chicks are brownish because they are the Mille Fleur color. This little D'uccle chick looks like it is a frizzle. Could she/he...

    Roo and Pullet?

What do you all think, Roo and Pullet? They are both D'uccle chicks and are 3 weeks old. I feel like the little one in front is a Roo and the other is a Pullet. I know they are probably too young to know for sure but just a guess. Somehow I got them to be the same in both pictures. :lau

Worried about week and a half old chick

I just got 6 chicks that are a week to week and a half. One of my D'uccle chicks, oldest of my chicks, is more lethargic than the others and does not seem to peep. She does eat and drink. Her breathing seems a little heavy to me. Not gasping for air or anything. This morning 5 of the chicks were...

How to tell baby chicks are warm enough

How do you know if the chicks are cold or not? I don't have a heat lamp on for them or a heat plate. I do have a wool hen, or something like it, for them. They are a week old to a week and a half. They don't seem to want to go in the wool hen. They are eating and drinking. They like to sleep...

    Heat Lamp or Wool Hen

Hello, I am not new to chickens, but I have not had baby chicks in a long time. I am picking up some Mille Fleur D'uccle chicks this weekend, they are true bantams, and I want to have their home setup for them before I pick them up. First off let me say I live in Arizona and the chicks will be...

Hello, I am a new member.

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? * I am not new to chickens. I got my first chicken when I was 12 years old. It was a lemon blue old English Bantam. I purchased her with money I made working on the summer at dog kennels. She was the friendliest hen I have ever...
