I have two hens. An Orpington and Orp mix
They have not laid eggs since early July and then it was only one egg.
No, they are not hiding them, I looked in every possible place.
The Orp mix is molting, but hasn't been since the laying stopped.
The Orp mix is 2 or 3 and the full Orp is I believe...
EMERGENCY HELP
I'm in chicago, Northwest side near Niles.
I have a hen that has bumblefoot in both feet.
Can't get into a vet for 2 weeks.
Anyone in the area that knows how to do the procedure to correct this and is willing to do it on my bird?
Is it normal for an English Orp to have such big poops. It's not often. When it does happen they make a lot of noise and there is a lot of white (we call urates in the tortoise world) on it.
Sorry if this in the wrong place. Mod please move if it is.
Seen this on FB. Thought it was pretty cool and cute.

Today my two 3 month old English Orps each caught a mouse.
One did get away but took quite a beating first.
I like mice and have a hard time killing them. However my chicken run and my tortoise shed runth over so any help to get them under control or gone is much appreciated.
Pheobe and...
The back side of my chicken run is against a fence and I can't get between the two, too put a fence skirt down to keep varmits out.
My idea is, from the inside of the run, I will push the pigeon spikes under/through the bottom of the hardware cloth and into the ground.
All spikes would be in...
They are approx. 4 week old English Orpingtons from @Faraday40
Not the best pics, slow phone camera and I was alone doing it.
Taking guesses for fun and too see if my thoughts matches anyone else's.
Each chick is in a collage. The collage is numbered.
My guess are all hens except number 3...
I have 4 baby chicks around 4 weeks. I never realized the phrase "your a chicken" said to a person that is scared was so true. Lol
Anything new and these chicks are so scared of it, it's almost sad.
Treats, new food dish, roosting stick, you name it.
Today their first day outside. Just for...
The last light goes off at 9.
Even then one chirps like crazy like s/he is scared. I guide them back under the heat plate and close up the open end of the brooder. After about 10-20 seconds all is quiet.
When they are living outside, I would like them to hunker down on their own and do it...
Thank you @Faraday40. So great talking to you yesterday and meeting and talking today.
The babies did really good on their ride to their new home.
They all have eaten quite a bit and drank from their water source. They are now getting tired and dozen off for a little nap before round 2 of...
Plan on using the clear for the outside of coop to seal and protect from the elements here in Chicago.
May also use to seal inside to help make cleaning easier and of course to protect the wood.
Any reason why I can't or shouldn't use it?
First I know it's best to not heat the coop. I just don't know if I can do that.
I never lose power (knocking on wood) and because of my tortoises, and the harsh winter we have had so far this year, we will be adding a generator for added relief incase. My tortoises can't go without heat and...
sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I caught a short blurb of this on the news this morning.
Chickens laying eggs that is laced with cancer fighting drug.
What do you all think?
I don't like the idea personally...
I'm a few months into the planning and gathering ideas stage of designing the inside of a shed coop not yet purchased.
Planning on the 7x7 Rubbermaid shed for 2-3 chickens.
The winter no heat, but lots of ventilation makes me very nervous. Where to place vents and how many is throwing me...
I'm only going to have 2 hens, 3 if I have too.
I'm still debating on what I want to do for a coop.
At the moment I'm looking at an approx. 7x7x8H Rubbermaid plastic shed. I'm in Chicago, cold snowy winters. Don't plan on heating. Is this too big for 2-3 hens to stay warm?
With only a...
still in preparation for owning Orpington chickens next year.
How should I handle our crazy temps? Last 3 days or so very hot, 90's and high humidity. Today mid to upper 70's high humidity. Then early evening, drastic drop into the low 70's going into low to mid 60's over night.
This has...
Still very new at all this. Also still chickenless until next spring. Trying to get all the info I need figured out.
I want Orpington's. I want them strictly as pets. Will be getting 2-3 depending on where I get them. I keep reading in their description on hatchery sites, etc, that they are...
