I’ve got three male ducks, two are Pekins and one Khaki Campbell I think. I can’t keep them. All are healthy and only a few months old. If interested please reply or message me. Thanks.
This little gal had to move in with the ducklings. Everybody seems happy with the setup. She climbs over them like a puppy and settles herself. They just shift a little. ❤️
This sweet little salmon faverole was getting picked on and we didn’t realize it! I put blue hen healer ointment on the little wounds. She’s so completely relieved to be separated from those meanies that she keeps falling on sleep ❤. She can hang out in a cat carrier inside until I can figure...
I just want to say how fascinating and fun it is to watch my hens find earthworms! A few of them are amazing in that they see and grab the worms when I can’t see the worm at all - so cool! My best worm hunters are my three black sexlinks. Chickens are so much fun.
My 9 month old giant Cochin, Sassy, is the youngest and the largest member of the 27 hen flock. She’s also near the bottom of the pecking order. We have a camera in the coop and a pop-door opener controlled by wifi so I watch the girls get off the roost in the morning and go out when I open the...
Argh It’s only early December and we’ve had two light snows do this already. The run is about 60x 25 and covered in bird netting. It’s fantastic for protection against flying predators but not so great against wet snow. This time it looks like the fence panel almost gave up too dang it. I...
This fluffy gal was sold to me as a baby, as a Giant Cochin, unsexed. She is now 26 weeks old. I’m assuming it’s female, she isn’t laying or squatting, but what I really want to know is the breed. I’ve never had a chicken with zero comb or wattles at 26 weeks! Thoughts?
This is Willy, 16week Ameracauna. Just this week started looking like a cockerel even though it was supposed to be a pullet. No crows yet. Cockerel right?
Poor little Butter led the way for Fall molting. By the time she finished, she was looking pretty rough. On the plus side, I'm sure she's cooler than everybody else and it's been crazy hot here in the 90s for the last couple of weeks so that probably feels good.
On the coop cam this morning I saw something I've never seen before. A 16-week cochin was in the treadle feeder eating and a white leghorn wanted in and she used her foot twice to push the cochin! I've never seen one of my chickens use their foot for anything except walking. That didn't work so...
I was cleaning eggs today, we've had lots of rain so the eggs are muddy, and found this brown egg. Or is it a white egg? I've heard of sometimes getting an egg with a heavy bloom, is this that? Do I need to try to figure out who layed it and do something?
Good morning. I live in East Tennessee, Seymour to be exact, which is in between Knoxville and pigeon forge. I got my first 6 chickens about 4 years ago and within a couple of months they were all killed by some predator, dogs we think. After that we made a bigger, better, coop and run and...
