Grandma duck was broody for the past month or so and she finally appeared this week with her clutch....I counted 23 of them but it could be more lol. They keep moving so it's hard to get a specific count. I didn't think it was possible to hatch so many ducklings! Could she just be a very fertile...
I went out on my patio early this evening to see 2 of the drakes i've been feeding for years in the water locking necks and fighting. They've done this before over the years and it always ended with one quickly rowing his wings like a rowboat away from the winner so I decided to watch to see who...
He showed up out of nowhere today and all the Muscovys seem kind of wary of him lol. I think it's a gorgeous duck, but the others are keeping their distance. Is it a Muscovy too?!
The babies are now a couple of months old (i'm pretty sure) and they still look nothing like Mama duck that i'm wondering if she mated with another kind of duck? Here's a picture of Mama with her babies and another with 2 others together without the Mama. Will these babies eventually look just...
One of the wild Muscovy ducks out back laid about 12 eggs in a big planter at the end of June/beginning of July. I'm not sure the exact date, but I know they were all there over the 4th of July holiday. She's been sitting on them all this time and nothing is hatching and it's beginning to smell...
Hi all! It's been a while since posting but i'm back with a concern.
One of the wild ducks out back where I live has just hatched a clutch. They're all free roaming wild muscovy ducks around the pond. This is the one eyed duck who I know isn't going to be a good Mom because she seemed to...
He's about 6 weeks old now but still all brown. At what age do they start looking like Muscovy's? I'm starting to wonder if the Mama mated with a regular brown duck. Forgive the pic quality, I snapped it through my screen door as to not frighten him while taking the pic.
He's the sole survivor...
I noticed the other day there were lots of black wing feathers strewn about the grass outside, then I saw one of the usual drakes that come and his wings are mostly gone with nothing but quills poking out in back.
Could he have plucked out all those feathers out by himself? Or possibly another...
Hello everyone, I posted here last spring about the injured duck with the fishing hook stuck in him. He seems to have gone off on his own because after about a month I just never saw him anymore. I hope he's doing ok wherever he is.
Now my current dilemma. Female muscovy had a clutch of 12...
I registered here to ask about this as I don't know what to do for the poor guy...
I live on a pond where there's lots of Muscovy ducks that live here. The same family of about 10 or so ducks have been here for years. One of the large males got a fishing hook caught in the red part of it's...
