Okay my BYC pros…I’m sure I already know the answer but I’m desperate. I’ve had chickens 10 years. Maybe I’ve lost two to hawks. Then I moved two years ago and I lost 4 my first year. Devastated is an understatement. They went on lockdown and have for the past year. I just got 14 babies that...
I took in a stray and she is sneezing with a runny nose. No other symptoms. Her feathers look excellent and her poop looks good. No mucous in eyes. Looks really healthy other than the sneezing and runny nose. She’s eating and drinking well. I have her quarantined and am practicing strict bio...
Does anyone know the current chicken laws here firsthand? The laws online that I have found haven’t been updated since 2013. Looking at buying a house here.
Thanks!
Yesterday morning around 10 AM my girls were making noise that I ignored for at least 5 minutes. When it didn't stop I went down to check and found a fox on the outside of my 5 ft chain link fence. I'm wondering why it didn't attack, as it had the time. It seemed to be just standing there...
my girls were yelling and when I went to investigate there was a fox standing on the other side of my 5 ft chain link fence. I yelled and it ran off. I then rounded up the girls and secured them in the coop. Based on other’s experiences, do you think he is going to come back if he didn’t get...
I wanted to hatch this combination and tried to find pictures of chicks and couldn’t find any, so I thought I would post mine. I ended up with 3 with black like the black and white polish(dad) and 2 gray like the lavender Ameraucana (mom). Can’t wait to see how they turn out 😊
Someone is incubating eggs for me and 5 of 6 have hatched so far. The 6th one hasn’t even pipped yet. They were all moving on lockdown day. Just wondering how common it is for one to not pip when it was alive on lockdown day. Still hoping she’s just a late Hatcher. They all only just hatched.
I had to quarantine a hen in the house for about one month and when I put her back in the yard my rooster wants to kill her. This is not a mating behavior, it’s vicious. I have had her separated in a fenced yard where he can see her and she’s been there for about two weeks but I’m bringing her...
I found a fox in my yard over the weekend, thankfully it was before my chicken door opened and nobody was hurt. my dogs scared him off but I'm terrified he is going to come back. I need to protect my girls and the only thing I can think of is electric fencing. we have a chain link fence now...
I have a flock of 13 who are 6 years old and have NEVER met new chickens. I now have 3 polish chicks that I want to move to the coop, but I really don't know how. My dilemma is I only have one coop and the big girls need to come in and lay and I don't have a run where I can let the babies...
