We purchased chicks listed as Rudd Rangers (free run) on May 15. They have distinctly differing colors mostly red or white with a few that are multicolored. There is a difference in growth rates especially between the red and the white. I’ll try to get pictures tomorrow but any ideas?
We use pellets mixed with a small amount of mealworms and oyster shells in their constant access feeder to our girls who are free to range in a fenced in yard. Once a day I call them and slowly toss out a handful of the pellets as a treat (this is for 6 chickens). Does this sound adequate but...

We will be placing it by the house in a fenced in yard (where...
I realize we won’t be seeing eggs yet from our girls but what do I do once they start laying? How often should I look? Is there anything special I need to do prior to cooking them?
We’re Charlie and Karen, in our mid 60s and we finally decided to raise hens. At least I’m hoping we got the right sex. We’ve started with 4 Ida Browns and 2 Austrolorps. The Idas are a week to 10 days older than the Lorps. We’re hoping to put their coop in our fenced-in back yard soon. They...
