Hi! I posted the other day thinking my flock has mareks. I have sent out one of my hens body for necropsy to MSU VDL, so I’m waiting for results to confirm, but I have another hen who I brought inside a couple weeks ago because I thought she had a leg injury. Today I saw her sticking her leg...
Hi! I keep having chickens die from leg paralysis. They all start out walking on their hock on one leg, then it progresses to complete paralysis where one leg sticks straight forward and one sticks straight back. I’ve cut one of these chickens open after it died and didn’t find any indication of...
Hi!
Is there anyway besides vent sexing (I have no idea how to do that) to tell a male from a female goose?? Just got these two African geese who were born this spring, the people I got them from couldn’t even give me a round about month of when they were born. 🙃
I got these 9 australorps marked as pullets from TSC. They’re 4.5 weeks old now. Do you think they’re all pullets so far? Or do any look like a roo to you?
I need help! My Rhode Island Red hen (she's about 2 years old) is very lethargic/lifeless, she won't move at all, she won't eat at all, and she only drank a little bit when I soaked her in the tub for 20 minutes. She also won't keep her eyes open unless she's startled. :( I just don't know...
Hi! I'm sad to say that one of my first chickens that I got--my Golden Laced Sebright was dead in the coop this morning when I let my flock out to roam. For the past two weeks, she had been walking around in the nest box like she wanted to lay. She hadn't started laying yet (she hatched in...
I got 3 one year old laying hens (1 RIR, 1 barred rock, 1 isa brown) at the end of June from someone rehoming them. They were all laying one egg a day consistently right away for about two weeks. Then all of a sudden the barred rock and isa brown stopped laying completely. I didn't know if it...
The breeder I got her from says she's either an olive egger or a blue ameraucana. Thoughts? I have no clue...

I was told by the breeder that I got these two silkies from that they were both blue silkies. One is 5 months old (first three photos) & one is 6 weeks old (last two photos).
I am very new to owning chickens and really don't know much about silkie coloring. But...aren't these white and not blue...
I just realized I never posted here!
My husband and I recently bought a home with 15 beautiful acres. I have always wanted to live on a farm and now my dream is becoming my reality!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My dad had a chicken farm when I was a young kid...
I have 2 swedish blue ducks that are 6 weeks old now. I have them in with my chickens and I plan to keep them in the coop with my chickens as they get older. I would like to free range my ducks and let them spend their time during the day in my big pond...I'm wondering if I should be worried...
I've been thinking my 6 week old Whiting True Blue is a cockerel because it's comb grew pretty fast. The breeder that I got it from said judging it's tail feathers compared to my Maran's that it is a pullet and my Maran is a cockerel. However, these two have been puffing up and fighting each...
This one I'm having a hard time with! This Silkie is about 17 weeks old now. I don't see any streamers and it doesn't have any spurs. So, leaning toward pullet??
I'm almost 100% sure my golden sebright is a pullet. But I wanted to get other people's opinions! What do you think....male or female?? She/he is about 15 weeks old.
