I just realized I never posted here!
My husband and I recently bought a home with 15 beautiful acres. I have always wanted to live on a farm and now my dream is becoming my reality!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My dad had a chicken farm when I was a young kid until I was 7 years old. He kept over 150 chickens at a time. I am new to owning chickens myself, we first got 2 bantams in April. Then we got 4 more chickens in May. And 2 ducks this month! (June 2019)
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 6 chickens total & 2 ducks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 blue silkie bantams, 1 golden laced sebright, 1 french blue copper maran, 1 whiting true blue, & 1 ayam cemani. We have 2 swedish blue ducks.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I am truly an animal activist, so my absolute FAVORITE part is knowing that my eggs will be coming from happy & healthy chickens that are raised humanely.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Horseback riding, photography, kayaking, hanging out with all of my other animals (we have quite a zoo).
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a Certified Veterinary Assistant at a small vet clinic. My husband and I have been together since 2014, we got married in 2017. We have no children, just furbabies! 27 animals total.
We have 6 dogs: 1 chihuahua/pug mix, 1 jack russell/dachshund mix, 1 pitbull mix, 1 pitbull/lab mix, 1 beagle/redbone hound/ australian shepherd/husky mix (she's nuts lol), & 1 basset hound! ALL of our dogs except one are rescues. We have 3 rabbits: 1 mini lop, 1 holland lop, 1 lionhead mix. We have 1 syrian hamster. We have 2 cats: 1 persian & 1 DSH. We have 4 guinea pigs. And finally we have 3 equines: 2 mini horses & 1 mini mule!

From googling my questions, I kept ending up here. I love this community!

there is a ton of info here. You do have a zoo!! Furbabies are fun and I find my chickens relaxing.
