    Speckled feet!

Just wanted to share these cute feet with other chicken lovers. I ordered 4 splash Ameraucanas from cackle and didn’t expect them to keep their cute freckled feet as they matured!

Splash Ameraucanas settling in nicely with the big girls!

So thankful for the community here! I was pretty nervous about introducing my 4 babies to my hens but looked through many forums on the best way to do it and it was shockingly so easy when they finally met each other! Thanks for the awesome resource and all of the wisdom from seasoned chicken...

    Laying eggs on the ground.

My hen Stevie will not lay in a nesting box, no matter what I try! I have 5 nesting boxes for 5 laying hens and have tried nesting herbs and fake eggs. She will go into the nesting boxes and even hang out, but then goes to the ground to lay. Are there any other tried and true tips y’all can give me?

    Tricky case of Bumblefoot.

My hen Pepper got a bumble in between her toes. I have treated other hens before for minor cases and had no problem getting the infection out. With pepper, I soaked her foot with epsom salt and warm water, removed scab, got kernel but because of the odd location, couldn’t seem to get every...

    The string works! (Hawk problem)

I just wanted to say thank you for everyone who suggests running twine across an area to deter hawks. I’ve had no problems free ranging my girls until the past month when a few red tails and a golden eagle showed up and won’t leave them alone. I want them to still have time in the grass time so...

    Hackle feathers?

What do y’all think? I have never had a rooster and I would welcome the idea! 8 weeks old.

    Splash

Hey y’all! My splash Ameraucanas are six weeks. They’re *supposed* to all be pullets but these pink combs today have me wondering. If there are any Roos, I know that’s just a part of the game so all but one would be rehomed if so. Thoughts? I tried for the life of me to get side photos but these...

    Splash feet?

Two of my one week old splash ameraucana chicks have these mixed feet? Will they stay this way? They’re so cute! 🥰

    Bi-Polar Broody Orpington?

My sweetest hen, Barbara has been broody for the past 3 days. She’s sitting on ceramic eggs and every day I remove her. I am noticing that she’s puffing up constantly, and challenging all of the other chickens once I remove her. She’s even been doing a sort of crow sound and flying at them- this...

    They’re here!

I ordered 3 female splash Ameraucanas from Cackle and the wait was hard but they’re here! They threw in an extra buddy which I imagine is probably a rooster but that’s okay because he’d be our only one in our flock if so. The shipping was quick and they all look very healthy and happy, which...

    Howdy!

My name is Ari and I live in Texas! Ive been a member for a little over a year, but realized I've never introduced myself! (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My family had a few pet chickens when I was a kid, but I got my own in the Spring of 2019! Best decision...

    Egg-Eating Lady

I have one hen who has been eating eggs here and there for about a month. I adjusted her feed to make sure she's getting what she needs and she stopped, but now she is just putting like a peck mark into each egg. Instead of eating them, now she is just ruining them. I purchased roll out nesting...

    Possible streamers?

Bought two silkies recently. Starting to see little pin feathers on heads . Neither one of them seems to have strictly male or female characteristics which seems to be the case for so many. Any guesses? If they are two cockerels they will have to be rehomed- they are the only two so far in my...

Trouble in paradise! (Hens fighting for dominance)

One of my hens (the top hen) contracted Fowlpox. I moved her to a smaller coop for quarantine. She is now all healed up two weeks later. The other chickens are let out every day to free range and can see her, but now the chicken who has assumed the top position in her absence is much larger. I...

    Boys or girls? (Silkies)

Picked up these two silkies today- the woman assured me they were females but I am just not so sure. She also said that they are 4 months old but are tiny- did she lie to me or do they grow that much slower than other breeds? I love them regardless, but I won’t keep both if they end up being Roos.
