Hi all.
I have a 3 day old chick that I'm assuming might be the first chick I even have to put down myself. But Im coming here in a last attempt at saving it.
It was removed from the incubator with this injury, it was 1 of 2 that hatched out of 6 eggs. The other was born a bit messed up, but for...
I tried peeling some shell back, but when I went for membrane it bleed, so I stopped. I candled it after that and realized it was facing away from its air cell . Any suggestions?
I've noticed when I touch my day olds that my broody hatched, I get a ton of little quick moving bugs, look kinda like tony ticks. What can I do?!
Here's a video of a few on my hand
Might be my fault, but I moved my broody over so that my other chickens would stop laying more eggs under her. She seemed fine with it, but maybe she was confused, cuz I noticed her on the wrong box today.
I moved her to the other box, with the eggs in it, but they didnt feel super warm. How...
I anyways notice these marks on some of my chickens. I assume it's just small injuries or dirt at the time. But this time 2 of them have a similar round scab. Maybe I'm just looking to much into this.
Hi, I have a 4 month old cockerel who is usually the first to eat and very active.
Today I noticed he had been hiding most of the day in the hen house on the roost bar. I thought he was getting beat up by the other cockerels or something. So eventually I let them out of their run to give them...
Any idea what would steal eggs in the middle of the day?
Ive lost a few fake eggs over the last few months, I usualy just assume the chickens knocked it out of nesting box and it got lost in bedding somehow.
But I just cleaned out the henhouse and at around 10 am I collected eggs,I placed the...
Man, today has been a hard one. This morning I'm woken up by a 2.5 week old chick hanging from one leg upside down from feeder. I heard it calling for help for about 15min before I realized. It seemed like it wouldnt walk right, but after about 30 minutes she seems fine.
Now I ended up fixing...
I'm assuming there is nothing I can do, but I'm so curious.
She was born around 8months ago and is laying eggs. I think she is laying cracked and healed eggs every day, but I havent confirmed it is her.
She was born late and I thought she would die. These are my first chickens and I had no idea...
Did it break its yolks internally? I cant actually tell what I'm looking at and dont know what to do at this point.
This is day 22, and this is only egg still not hatched.
So, I let my chickens "free range" for about 1 - 2 hours most evenings.
Last evening my rooster was very, excited to be our of the run....
well he was servicing, or attempting to service all 5 of my hens.
Most of the time they would succumb to his forcefulness, or run away sqawacking...
Hi, I hatched what were supposedly "Cream" Legbars about 6 months ago. 3 of the 5 females have peacombs, and this breed is not supposed to have them.
Are peacombs something that could even come up in pure legbars? Can I breed these and get chicks without peacombs?
Is there a good site talking...
I noticed this a few days ago, but it's probable that it's been going on at least a week or two and I didnt notice. I did scare my roo into flying and crashing into her about 2 weeks ago, and I thought she broke her neck or something, cuz she started running really weird, but then seemed to be...
So at this point I had expected to get my first eggs who knows when and I was not checking the hen house every day.
TOday one hen was acting weird, she is usualy one of the ones mobbing me for treats and follows me around, but today she stayed away from the group during treat time and was just...
I feel like I have non stop issues. Does this look like mites? Something else? If it mites what can I do? They have been outside for maybe 3 weeks, and its a brand new coop with diatamaceous earth, clean, etc.
So Ive done tons of research and I am still having problems.
Ive gone to 3 feed stores around my area, and all they carry is starter feed and laying feed.
My flock is about 11 weeks old. I have 5 females and 1 male.
I tried my hardest to find grower food and just seems impossible. One feed...
Hey, I have some 5 1/2 week olds that are really ready to move to a bigger area.
I dont have any other chickens yet, and everything Ive read talks about the coldest the chicks can survive in.
Well I dont have that problem, it never snows here, and its never really below 45 even in the coldest...
