Hi everyone,
I have an 11 week old cockerel, though the photos I am posting are most likely from week 6 or 7. Any ideas what he is? (other than stinking cute). The last photo was taken today, so about 11 weeks old.
thanks in advance!
I have a question about grit size. I ordered some Manna grit online and it seemed a good size for my then 15 week old flock. Then I bought some grit from the local feed store and it was tiny in comparison (and not labeled chick grit!) The grit is like 1-2 mm diameter.
what is a good size for...
I have fermented some pelleted food as a trial for our birds and tomorrow is day 3. However the consistency is like...cornmeal soup. Do I strain in cheesecloth to obtain something more like a mash? This looks too fine for a metal strainer. How do chickens eat this as a mash??
Hi,
I'm using the term "medium sized" but I know this is all relative. I tend 17 chickens as part of my duty at our local Community Garden. As a novice "chicken tender" (fan of puns) I am going to incorporate weekly health checks on our young flock, which is about 10 weeks old. My question...
im a little overwhelmed with the amount of measures I can take to manage a flocks general health.
Does anyone have thoughts on which of these is highest priority or must haves? Anything that is too much, or “extra?”
-apple cider vinegar in water
- probiotics
- periodic deworming
- vitamins...
Hi,
We've successfully transferred our flock of 17 to the a big coop. They are 6 weeks old, and I am loading up two small treat balls each day just to make their day a little more interesting. They love barley grass which I sprout for them, but I heard that chicks should only eat small clippings...
I have nine chicks about 5.5 weeks old. When they are getting their outside time in my garage, I am frequently running around with paper towel pieces to clean up poop, and while I see lots of normal poop I also see equal amounts of runny brown poop. I’m hoping it counts as Cecal poop and not...
I think I am attaching three pics of my mystery chick, 5 weeks old, included as my Murray McMurray surprise (although I asked them not to send me a surprise, but oh well...)
Is it a rooster? Also, is it a Wyandotte or something else?
Thanks in advance
Carolyn
hi,
