These are barnyard mix chickens. I hatched them around August 11th. Second generation of barred rock, RIR, easter eggers, buff orphingtons, and an unkown black chicken mix. If you'd like any other angles please let me know.

I was at Tractor Supply and since the last few batches of DuMore pellets I usually feed them has been powdery lately, I noticed a 40lb bag of Producers Pride pellets for 16.50. I also got a 50lb bag of DuMore for 18.99, so very similar in price.
My chickens flat out won’t eat the Priducers...
Hello, I was reading some info and I misread the dosage. I have 6 hens that all weigh around 5lbs and I gave them each .5ml orally using a baby syringe. I'm now realizing I should've given them something more like 1.5ml per hen. Would it be okay to just dose them the full 1.5ml dose tomorrow...
I have 6 hens that are about 3 years old and have never had issues with them going into their coop at sundown. Within the past few weeks, one of my hens started sleeping on a chair on our back porch instead. She's the only one having this issue and she does not seem sick, or like anything is out...
I have had barnyard mix egg laying hens for several years now. Our neighbor has a silkie rooster he wants to get rid of. We have been thinking about getting a rooster to breed with the hens anyways. Any idea what the offspring might be like? What I want to avoid is offspring that rarely lay...
Hello, my three month old pullet started gaping this morning. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary yesterday, but this morning after I fed them, I noticed she is off by herself in the corner and is gaping.
I did some research for a couple hours and decided to swab her throat to check for...
I've been hired to build a coop for someone, and I was thinking of buying pre-made boxes to save them on my not-so-cheap labor. These were a good price and seem to have decent reviews, but I can't see how these would really perform very well with them being open like that. I know reviews are...
They're just over 4 weeks old. I left out the ones I'm almost positive are females to reduce the amount of photo's.
I believe the father of most of these is a red breed of unknown genetics. He looks like a New Hampshire to me. The hen mothers are Barred Rock, Easter/Olive Eggers, and Buff...
Hello, I hatched 17 chicks 3 weeks ago sold as "barnyard mix". The flock they came from included a "red rooster"(unknown genetics, looks like a new hampshire red to me), and an easter egger rooster, who is less dominant and didn't seem to fertilize many. The hens are: barred rock, buff...
Hello,
I purchased this "black sexlink pullet" back in April at 6 weeks old.
As she's grown, I started to suspect that she was actually an australorpe(the person sells those as well)
Recently I lost some flock members and she has become the dominant hen. She gained a lot of weight very quickly...
Hello,
I just tried my hand at hatching eggs for the first time. Since it was my first time, I just got some cheap barnyard mix eggs. The person I purchased them from said they had a "big red barnyard mix rooster" and barred rock hens, amongst a few other breeds.
A lot of the chicks came out...
Hello,
The last time I bought chick starter, I bought a bag of DuMor non-organic from the breeder. This time I wanted to do something good for the chickens, so I went to the organic feed store and spent more than twice as much on local feed. When I opened the bag, it was about 80% powder. The...
Hello,
I purchased two 5 month old pullets from a local chicken breeder. I thought one of them was just stressed out from the move, because she wasn't very active. However, last night I noticed that her beak had something that looked like mucus on it. At that point I put my ear up to her and...
Hello, first post here!:frow
I'm new to raising chickens. I got my first flock of 5 chickens about two months ago, at 6-8 weeks old. So, they are roughly 16 weeks old. I had two easter eggers and three black sexlinks. Two of the sexlinks got out through a hole in their pen this morning, and the...
