Like the title says just want to confirm that I do indeed have 2 pullets. My town does not allow roosters. Had bad luck last year with a barred rock and hoping my luck is better this year.
So we got our first chickens last spring and we love it. Today I noticed that a few of our chickens are missing feathers on their necks. Never observed this before and not sure what is going on. I just noticed today so not exactly sure when it started.
Got 2 new chicks this spring to add to our flock of 5. We got a barred rock, to replace one from last year that was a rooster and then an Ameruacana, because we were hoping for blue eggs. Pretty sure the one is a barred rock but not sure the other is an Ameruacana because I don't see the puffy...
So our family started our first flock this spring and fell in love. We had 6 chicks at first but were forced to give up our barred rock because he was a cockerel and we are not allowed to have them. We promised our son that we would get another barred rock in the spring and wanted to add 2 more...
we have a flock of 5, was 6 but one was a rooster. We know we want a few more, 3 tops. So do we add now so they lay come spring or wait until spring. We are still new to chickens. And this is our first flock that we bought just before Easter.
First timer here. Built the coop out of an old playhouse used 2x3 on edge and 2x3 flat to build roosts. They dont use them and instead just sit on the raised platform. Any ideas? I have gone in at night and moved them but they freak out and go right back to platform. See arrow, sorry horrible...
Got this chick as a jersey blue but was told no jersey giant in her. Hoping she is a pullet but tough to tell as her comb is black and grey along with her legs. I am guessing some kind of mix but was wondering if any eagle eyes here can pick what breeds. She is 8 weeks old. Really hoping pullet...
Have a barred rock that we can not keep due to local laws. Would live to see him re homed. He is sweet and can easily be picked up. He is 9 weeks old. Located in Tom's River.
So we got our first chickens right before Easter but had no coop. We had an old playhouse in our yard from the previous owners so we decided to repurpose that as our coop. First off we are NOT handy people so eagle eyed viewers will see not everything is perfect but we did what we could. I had...
So we got our first ever chicks from the pullet only bin. My son fell in love with the way barred rocks look and that was his pick. All indications are pointing to her being a him and we are not allowed to keep roosters in the town I live in. He is now going on 6 weeks old. Culling him for the...
After posting on our bar rocked, most likely a roo, I thought I would check the rest of my girls to make sure our first chick luck gets better. All chicks are 5 weeks with 2, the grey and dark black are 4. Also want to double check the two breeds I have arrows on. The blue arrow is supposed to...
So we bought this chick about 2 weeks ago and was supposedly a silver laced wyandotte. But we have noticed the feathered feet and that is throwing us for a loop. Any help would be appreciated.
So my family and I just got new chicks during Easter and I stumbled upon this site. Looks like a great wealth of info. We got the following chickens. Will post pictures soon. Plymouth bar rocked, rhode island red, blue laced red wyandotte, red star?, silver laced wyandotte which I think is a...
