Why is her face so red?!

Okay my chicken is only 6 weeks old and her face is super red. She doesn’t have the black chest that is common in the breed for a rooster so I’m super confused!

Keeping foot up and laying down a lot

Hello! First time chicken owner and I don’t know what is wrong with my little Olive. She is staying away from the flock and laying down. I noticed she kept lifting her one leg up. I checked all over her little feet and I don’t see anything. Can someone please let me know what I can do to help...

Is this a cockoo or a rock?

We got this guy from a feed store. They said it’s a cockoo maran, but I can’t tell the difference between that and a barred rock.

    So confused

How do you know which rooster to keep? We ended up with about six out of 16 chickens. These are our options: speckled Sussex, cockoo maran, two blue laced red Wyandotte’s, golden laced polish, and possibly a silky.

    Here’s our flock!! Any guesses?

All of our chicks are four weeks old. Threw the silkies in as well, but I know we can’t tell yet. We have a golden laced polish, a salmon faverolle, a blue laced red Wyandotte, a speckled Sussex, and two silkies.

    Silky question

If you have two silkies that came from the same bin, one is white and one is black, and one is much larger than the other one. Is that a good indication that the larger one is a male?

    I know it’s a little early...

We bought a light brahma that turned out to be a salmon faverolle. Anyway, it’s 3.5 weeks old but we have had someone tell us it’s a male while another said pullet. What do you guys think? I know it’s pretty early.

So many cockerels, not many hens.

Here are our beautiful chippins. They are 8.5 weeks old and 3.5 weeks old. We got some new ones to replace all the cockerels we ended up with and ended up with likely more cockerels. The older speckled Sussex is the same chicken. He was just being super photogenic.

    What on earth??

We bought a light Brahma chicken and today we noticed that it’s feathers are almost a pinky color and it has an extra toe on each foot! Will it be okay?? We also noticed it has a head tic. Like it twitches. Is that normal?? I think the other chickens have been pecking at its foot feathers. How...

    Free range question

What age did you let your chickens outside alone to free range? Ours are 7 weeks. When we let them free range we usually stay outside with them, but I can’t do that all day everyday. What age will they be okay on their own? Will they wander off? Will they go back in their pin when they want? Do...

    Whatcha think

Hello! I thought this was a pullet but my friends think it’s a cockerel. What do you guys think? This is her/him at 5,6, and 7 weeks. It’s an Oliver egger TIA

    Random question

What age do roosters start trying to mate with the females? Our roosters are only 6 weeks old and we noticed they are starting to mount the girls. Is this normal? Do we need to rehome the roosters soon? I don’t want my girls getting beat up.

Here is our flock! Can you guess the boys from the girls?

Hello everyone! can you tell our boys from girls! We have different breeds. We have two blue laced red Wyandotte’s, a silver laced Wyandotte, a cockoo maran, an olive egger, an ameraucana, two buff Orpingtons, dark Brahma, and a speckled Sussex. Let us know what you think!

    We need help!

Hello everyone! This is our first time owning chickens and it seems that even though we bought sexed chickens we may have quite a few cockerels. Can you help us identify them. They are four weeks old. The first two are blue laced red Wyandotte’s, the third one is a speckled Sussex, and the...
