    Chicken love...

My little Hedwig. I lost 3 4 week olds to a hawk a little over a month ago, my buck beak was among one of the victims. I was devestated. I decided to get more, 6 to be exact (and 2 ducks lol) And this is little Hedwig, the sweetest most cuddly little babe. God blessed me with these sweet angels...

    Hawk just killed 3 chicks.

Had 7 13 week olds, and 3 4 week olds that were in a fenced run. Went outside and one was completely disemboweled and the other 2 just necks broken. My sweet buckbeak human chicken was one of the casualties. I'm a mess. 😥😥

I think she thinks she's human.

This is Buckbeak. A 4 week old Silver Laced Wyandotte. Aside from being a total love bug, she absolutely LOVES when I mimic her chirps and purrs, basically goes back and forth with me as if we are having a conversation. She does have a really bad habit of trying to clean me, loves trying to...

    Help!!

I have a group of 7 12 week old chicks with 1 roo and another group of 3, 4 wel old chicks. I've had their brooder in the coop for over a week. I tried to put the smaller chicks on the roost with them and they viciously attacked the babies, almost all of the older ones went after the babies...

    Introducing Chicks to flock.

I have 8 12 week old chicks (7 pulleys and one roo) and 3 wyandotte chicks that are 4 weeks old. I put the baby's brooder in the coop a week ago to get the older chicks used to them. My question is, how do I go about successfully integrating the 4 week olds with the 12 week olds as smoothly as...

    Interesting development

So I have two sets of chicks I raised this spring/summer. The first set, almost 12 weeks; and the new set, almost 3 weeks. I read an article that said you can bond with your chickens if you behave like them (pretend to scratch, mock their sounds and chirps, etc.) So I did that with my 3 week...

    SO IN LOVE

I finally convinced to get my husband on board with getting more chicks. We started off with 8, 1 died. They are now nearly 9 weeks old. Just got 3 baby chicks yesterday, because 10 chickens is not a large flock for a 1 acre yard and 16x6 coop (though my husband would beg to differ). I will...

Just got 3 new baby chicks

To add to my flock of 7 pulleys. I'm in NJ, do you think the temps are safe enough to put the brooder in the coop?

Is this safeguard safe for deworming chickens and if so, what is the dosage? (Just for future reference).

I got some dewormer just because my girls were doing some neck stretching/ gaping. Is this okay (husband picked it up) and how much do I give (I bought a dropper)

7 week old chick making crackling noise when breathing

Lucy is my 7 and 3 day old week pullet who jus today started making cracking noises when breathing. My husband mowed yesterday and today and it's been about 90 degrees...but could this be a respitory issue or MG??

    Wellsummer Roo or Pullet?

This is Luci, s/hes 7 weeks old today. Thinking S/he is a roo die to the large red waddles and comb. However, breast feathers are not black..so I'm not sure.

My pullet disssappeard about an hour ago and I'm devastated

I had my 7, 7 week old chicks, 6 pullets (and 1 roo I suspect) outside in my fully fenced 1/2 acre yard to free range like I have been for the last week. I was outside gardening and I heard a commotion of only one of the chicks so I went running over and I found 6 out of 7 just scratching away...

    Possible impacted crop?

Tonight when my 7 week old chicks went to roost, I noticed my one Dominique Hazel's crop was about the size of a golf ball and fairly hard to the touch. I was able to massage it and it broke up a bit. I've taken the food away and left their water in their coop. I will check her first thing in...

    So strange...

I feel like my chickens hate me, lol. During the day, they flee from me. The two that used to run to me when I opened the brooder as baby chicks no longer really want to be on me, but tonight when I went to close their coop, 6 out of 7 tried to roost on my arms and head. I just don't get it...

A few of my 5 week old chicks have bald spot by ear

Tried looking the cause of this up and couldnt really find anything. Is this just a result of losing baby fluff and growing feathers? What should I do??

I want to move my girls outside!!

I have 4 week old pullets (I suspect one may be a roo) that are nearly fully feathered. They havent had a heat lamp in 2 weeks and they are making a complete mess in their brooder in my house. Can I move them outside?? The average day time temperature is 80 to 85 for the last 1o days or so and...

    Recommended coop night light

I'm thinking of setting my 4 (almost 5) weeks old chicks in their coop for good since the weather has been good and they are almost fully feathered. I wanted to place a solar powered light in their coop for comfort and maybe a little heat at night and slowly wean them off since their used to...
